Il primo episodio della trologia "Invasione dei Vorticon", il primo gioco Commander Keen, ed il primo gioco che la iD Software ha rilasciato. È stato anche un successo per lo sviluppatore di sparatutto in prima persona (FPS) iD ed il distributore di shareware Apogee.
Grafica Inutilizzata
Questa grafica è nascosta sia in Keen 1 che in Keen 2, ma non è utilizzata in nessuno di questi due giochi. La lettere "V" dell'Alfabeto Galattico Standard è sulla tessera, quindi presumibilmente ha a che fare con i Vorticon. Sarebbe potuta essere una tessera che avrebbe potuto aprire ogni porta.
