So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

Doubutsu no Mori is a late Nintendo 64 game, originally only released in Japan, later re-released for the GameCube in Japan, then updated and released in the US as Animal Crossing, and this version was re-re-released in Japan and (finally) released to the rest of the world. Weird sentence, weirder story.

Map Select

Doubutsu no Mori contains a map select screen that is very similar in design to its counterparts found in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The screen can be accessed using the GameShark codes below. Enter the codes and start the game, advance through the title screen, etc. until you get to Totakeke's first two-choice question. Now, hold R and select the second option, which normally returns one to the title screen, but now loads the map select screen instead.

Acactussayswhat?
Please elaborate.
Having more detail is always a good thing.
Specifically: Lots of stuff to do here...

TODO: Document & translate map select options, document the maps (most, if not all, are for debugging/testing or something?), everything else.

Settings

From top to bottom, the labels are: Step, Weather, Gender, Face, Bee Sting, Data, Shirt, Event. I'm going to guess "data" was shorter than "have a mole rant at you about saving the game properly".
