Mr. Moffat
Dialogue planned for a removed character/mission.
Moffat: "Vercetti? VERCETTI!! Damn you man, you've got to help me!"
Tommy: "Mr. Moffat? How's family life?"
Moffat: "Damn you to hell, HELL, do hear me?!"
Tommy: "Well it was nice chatting..."
Moffat: "WAIT! Wait, Vercetti - Tommy, can I call you Tommy? We're both businessmen, yeah? You know a good deal when you hear one, ok?"
Tommy: "I don't have time to chat, get to the point."
Moffat: "MONEY. Money is the goddamned point. I've escaped the coop again, but it's never long before they track me down - they think it's a damned game! I'm at a pay phone somewhere in this god forsaken shit hole. Get me out of here before they take me back and...and..oh go-o-od..."
Tommy: "Well, I'm busy for the next -"
Moffat: "No! Don't shit with me here, have a heart! No man should have to do such, such things. I'm on my knees here Tommy, in the dirt begging you please..."
Tommy: "I guess I could swing by that way, see if I can spot you..."
Moffat: "Oh god, they're coming. For the love of Christ hurry, hurry!"
Introduction
There is a slightly different version of the opening conversation between Ken and Tommy.
Ken: "Hey, hey, guys! It's, uh, Ken Rosenberg here! Hey! Heh, heh, hey, great, hey! Well, uh, I'm gonna drive you guys to the meet, okay? Now, I've talked to the suppliers and they are very, huh-ha, keen to start a business relationship, so, uh, if all goes well, we should, uh, be doing very nicely for ourselves, which is, y'know... good.. Okay, so. They're brothers, okay. One operates the uh, the business, and the other one does the flying. Now they operate out of Mexico, They own a farm in Panama. Okay, all right, listen - you guys, when we get there should I stay in the car, or do you guys want me to come in with you guys?"
Tommy: "No. Stay in the car."
Ken: "You know what, I thought about it, I'm gonna watch the car."
(at the swap)
Ken: "Ok, that's them in the chopper. All right, here's the deal. They want a straight exchange on open ground. All right? Ok. Stay tight, let's go. All right. Take it easy, now. I'm right here. The cars running, baby! Got it?"
Dealer: "100% pure grade-A Colombian, my friend. The greens?"
Tommy: "Tens and twenties...used."
(cue ambush)
Tommy: "Go on, get out of here! Drive!"
(back at the office)
Ken: "Screwed! We're screwed! This is soo typical, I poke my head out of the gutter for one freakin' second, and fate shovels shit in my face! Well, screw you!"
Tommy: "Shut your face and quit complaining! You're alive, aren't ya'? Drop me right up here. Go dump the car, then go get some sleep. I'll drop by your office tomorrow and we can start sorting this mess out."
Ken: "OK, that's a good idea, I'll get some sleep. What are you gonna do?"
Tommy: "Make my way back to my hotel, clear my head, and figure this crap out. OK."
Additional Mission from Avery Carrington
Avery: "Hey Tommy, it's Avery! Now listen, I got me all tied up at the moment and I have a representative of mine needs chaperoning out to the Gator Keys. I'm after some land out that way, so I'm sending someone out to sweeten the deal. Could you do me a favor and make sure he gets there ok?"
Tommy: "Yeah, sure thing Avery. Where'd you want me to pick him up?"
Avery: "He's just finishing some business at the building site. I said you'd pick him up from there."
Tommy: "No problem. See you later, Avery."
More Calls from Kent Paul
Conversation 1
Kent: "Tommy, mate, it's Paul, from Kent, a couple of proper sorts have your name written all over them, down at the Malibu."
Tommy: "What are you talking about?"
Kent: "Sorts. Birds. You know. Girls. Tastey ones, don't think they're brasses or nothing. You gotta come check them out."
Conversation 2
Kent: "Tommy V, It's KP here. Kent Paul. Word on the street is people want to rip you off. Keep your eye's peeled, my son. And remember, I didn't say nothing to you about this."
Mercedes' Call
The actual text for one of the conversations.
Mercedes: "Hiya Tommy!"
Tommy: "Hi Mercedes, howyadoin'?"
Mercedes: "I got a new apartment up in Vice Point - thought you might want to drop by sometime."
Tommy: "I'd love to. I'll catch you later."
Actress Mercedes
This call ought to have produced after finishing the Interglobal films asset's missions.
Mercedes: "Ooh Tommy, its Mercedes. I just want to say, I have so much fun on that film set. Anything else you have like that, you let me know. I really mean that. I always wanted to be an actress. I think I learn a lot about the dramatic process. It so enlightening! Thank you. Thank you. I see you real soon. Adios."
Colonel Cortez' Call
An alternate version of the Colonel's conversation following the completion of the main story missions.
Cortez: "Tommy, it is always a struggle here. Excuse the poor line, we have just had another failed coup. The people are the most demanding mistress of all. So far, we have had three revolutions and four coups since I return from Vice City. Luckily, I have been promoted each time. Maybe everyone is humiliating me. Tommy, you are proving very useful, my friend."
Tommy: "Thanks, Cortez. What about my deal?"
Cortez: "Tommy, I am working tirelessly on your behalf to ensue we get to the bottom of this trench of stinking lies and deceit, you have my word on that, but in the meantime, please accept the esteemed thanks of my people for your work on our behalf."
Mike Jones?
Cam Jones is referenced as "mike" in the games files (igmike.txd, mike2.txd etc.)
Unused Graphics
HUD Icons
Various items located in the hud.txd file do not appear in the game.
Radio Stations
Icons exist for each station (save for VCN, only depicted as a building) in the game.
VCN
In the PS2 version's menu graphics (FRONTEN2.TXD), there was a logo for VCN radio. It was among the logos for the other radio stations that you could tune in on the menu while adjusting audio options. Perhaps it was planned to be an actual radio channel?
- VCPS2810vcn.jpg
The logo
News Headline
Found in the txd folder, there is a news headline from GTA III's intro as news.txd, it lays there as a leftover. But only on PC version.
Miscellaneous Stuff
| Icon | Description |
|---|---|
| A green house; unused property icon. Introduced in GTA: San Andreas. | |
| Letter B, standing for Bikers. Not used in favor of a poker spade icon. |
An unused loading screen from the PlayStation 2 version. Normally the game does not load long enough to display this image, so it goes unseen.
Models and Textures
| To do: Get individual texture sheets for each asset. |
Vehicles
- Coastguard Maverick: Helicopter. Only text and handling entry remain.

- Cougar: Automobile. Model and texture files are present within the PS2 files. The PC version only contains the .dff archive. The car is very similar to another car, Virgo. Cougar could be an early name for it.
- Inferno: Automobile. Model and texture files are present within the PS2 files. The car is very similar to another car, Infernus. Inferno could be an early name for it.
- Mafia Cruiser: Automobile. The car is very similar to another car, Sentinel XS. Mafia Cruiser could be an early name for it.
- Kuruma: Automobile from GTA III. Handling entry is present; possibly a leftover.
KURUMA 1500.0 1.9 4.9 1.4 0.0 0.0 0.15 75 0.87 0.85 0.48 5 180.0 17.0 F P 7.17 0.55 0 30.0 1.6 0.1 0.24 0.60 18000 0.27 -0.13 0.5 0.0 8002 1 1
- Toyz: Automobile from GTA III. The only remaining data of the car is its GXT entry.
- The Mesa Grande is internally referred as "Desperado". This suggests a late name change.

Weapons
- Grenade Launcher: Its model (grenlanc.dff) and textures (grenlanc.txd) are still in the PS2 edition of the game.
- Steyr Aug: Its model (steyr.dff) and textures (steyr.txd) can be found as well in the PS2 version.
- AK-47: Model and textures are present. Its low quality texture implies that it may have been discarded earlier in development.
- Landmines: Model and textures were preserved too in both releases. This weapon would be fully coded, but STILL unused in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
- Texture files exist for a cut Tazer gun.
- Silenced Colt: Model (coltsil.dff) and texture (coltsil.txd) are also in the PS2 version.
Assorted Objects
- Bus Shelter: Labeled as bustopm.dff. These were meant to be part of the game world.
- Deformed Kent Paul: Labeled as kentpaul.dff. Self explanatory. A different model is used.
- Early Ken Rosenberg: Found only in the PC version's files labeled as "lawyer.dff & lawyer.txd". Seems to be an earlier look for Ken Rosenberg, without his glasses, different face, and clothing.
Unused Features
- Additional clothing labeled as "MC Tommy" is listed in the american.gxt file at MAIN > OUTFT13. Neither models nor textures of this outfit exist.
- Within the same file, tires would have been able to be slashed and recorded into the statistics according to MAIN > TYRESLA.
Developer Shout-Out
There is a secret criminal rating for the stats page: "SA Goon". It is only displayed if the player's score is between 1000 and 1005, after which it ticks over to the "Goon" rating. Due to the very small window for it to be achieved, it's nearly impossible to catch unless one is deliberately trying for it.
The rating is a reference to the Something Awful Forums, the inhabitants of which are dubbed Goons.
