Cactus 2.0!
This article has just been started and needs the article basics added.
Help us out and add them.

Mario Kart 7 is essentially the same thing as Mario Kart DS but more awesome and in 3D.

Unusual Item Boxes

On Rainbow Road after the first gliding section, there are three Item Boxes hidden under the planet's rings. They can only be collected by flying under the rings and back up onto the course. Unlike the Super Item Box retained in DK Pass (DS), which has a unique item distribution of only speed items and Red Shells, they appear to have no special characteristics.

Regional Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
Are there other localizations with notable name changes?

For some reason, certain track and kart part names were changed between the American and European versions of the game.

Track Names

Japanese American European
Cheep Cheep Lagoon Cheep Cheep Lagoon Cheep Cheep Cape
Shy Guy Carnival Shy Guy Bazaar Shy Guy Bazaar
Wuhu Island 1 Wuhu Loop Wuhu Island Loop
Music Park Music Park Melody Motorway
Rock Rock Mountain Rock Rock Mountain Alpine Pass
Piranha Plant Slider Piranha Plant Slide Piranha Plant Pipeway
Wario Ship Wario Shipyard Wario's Galleon
Neo Koopa City Neo Bowser City Koopa City
Wuhu Island 2 Maka Wuhu Wuhu Mountain Loop
Rosetta Planet Rosalina's Ice World Rosalina's Ice World
Koopa Castle Bowser's Castle Bowser's Castle
Honeybee House Honeybee Hive Honeybee House

Despite the name change, the American/Japanese name "Music Park" can still be seen on banners in the level in the European version.

Kart Part Names

American European
Birthday Girl Royal Ribbon
Zucchini Gherkin
Gold Standard Gold Kart
Bruiser Growlster
Beast Glider Ghastly Glider
Paraglider Parafoil
Swooper Swoop

In regards to the last change, Swoop is another name for Swooper in some recent games. The names seem to be used interchangeably.

Revisional Differences

Version 1.1, first released May 15, 2012, fixed three respawn glitches in the courses:

  • GBA Bowser Castle 1
  • Wuhu Loop / Wuhu Island Loop / Wuhu Island 1
  • Maka Wuhu / Wuhu Mountain Loop / Wuhu Island 2

These fixes only affect the online play. Also, "Ver 1.1" was added to the Online Multiplayer icon.
