Mario Kart Wii/Oddities
This page is for things that are technically "in use" within tracks in the game, but are very strange nonetheless
| To do: Get better images of everything. Maybe even In-Game? |

Unobtainable Item Boxes on DK Summit
There are 3 item boxes in DK Summit located under the map. They are a bit after the S curve, but on the bottom of the level (on the respawn plane). In the image to the left, they are highlighted in red.
A video can be seen here (go to 1:38, and watch out for the volume).
Big AREA on DK Summit
AREAs are invisible regions in Mario Kart Wii, when you are in them the game knows which camera to use for the replay cameras and other things. For some reason, there is one on DK Summit that is massive, way bigger than the track itself.
Bowser's Castle Cannon SFX
In Mario Kart Wii, track slots that have cannons load up cannon sound effects from the revo_kart.brsar, and tracks that dont have cannons do not. There is one exception to this rule, however. Bowser's Castle still loads the cannon sound effects even though there are no cannons on the track, meaning it probably had cannons once upon a time.
GCN Waluigi Stadium's Double Item Box
GCN Waluigi Stadium has 2 item box objects placed in exactly the same coordinates (the top box over the first big jump), you can sometimes see them in game clipping through each other.
Sunset Luigi Circuit Model Differences
For some reason, the version of Luigi Circuit used in the credits has a slightly different model than the normal one. The sunset version has a whopping 13 less triangles than the normal.

Sherbet Land Pole Texture
The pole of the finish line on N64 Sherbet Land dosent have its own texture, instead it uses the "I" from the MARIOKART banner from the startline.

You can even see that the pole has a slight gradient to it.

French Lap 3 Texture
For some reason, only the Lap 3 texture in french is stored in a palette format, all other HUD textures (in french and all other languages) are stored in an IA8 format instead.
