Development Leftovers
memory.ini
In the root of the game is a file called memory.ini. It contains build data from the game. The contents of memory.ini can be found here.
Unused Text
In the gmd file evidence_caption_eng found in romfs/archive/msg_cmn_eng.arc there is some text that seems to be unused. They are some of the last entries in the file and are prefixed with item0.
This is definitely Mr. Wright's Attorney's Badge. But what was it doing behind the open hallway door?
The phone that delivered Mr. Wright's final message to me.
Unused Graphics
A placeholder icon for Apollo Justice, with "temporary" stamped on the top-left corner. In the final game, the jacket he's wearing is dark blue with a white collar.
A large render of a Nintendo 3DS console. There's a bit of transparency on the 3D slider.
An image of the Forbidden Chamber, with two outlines overlaid. The blue outline roughly fits 1024×724px, and the orange outline roughly fits 825×500px.
Hidden Graphics
Part of the texture used for Phoenix's in-court "document holding" pose is hidden due to the camera angle.
Regional Differences
Fulbright's Badge

Bobby Fulbright's badge was changed for the game's localization. This change accidentally lead to his wrists becoming miscolored. This was fixed in the mobile port.
Quiz DLC
A three part quiz DLC was not localized for regions outside of Japan. This is because the quizzes require an in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture. There are various UI graphics leftover from the quiz DLC in the North American release. The Nostalgic Sweater costume reward for completing the quiz DLC was given as a reward for completing the extra case DLC instead.
Music Difference
In the Japanese version of The Monstrous Turnabout, when the Mood Matrix overloads for the first time when using it on Jinxie Tenma, the normal Mood Matrix theme plays. In the English version, it is changed to the theme that plays every other time the Mood Matrix overloads.
Aristotle Means's Spear Error
| To do: Get comparison screenshots of this. |
In the Japanese version, Aristotle Means does not have his globe "spear" when he is first met before the mock trial in case 3; however, he does have it in the English localization. This creates a plot hole when it is revealed that the spear played a role in the murder and that he should not have had it at that point. The iOS and Android releases corrected this error.
