Pokémon Gold and Silver/German Demo Version

This is a sub-page of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

A German demo version of Pokémon Silver, which is mostly identical to the released game, with the addition of some limitations to restrict players' movement and abilities to specific areas and things.

The German demo version is located in the 2018 Wack0 leaks at Gen2.7z/euro2.zip/MAKE/mons2_slv_ger_e3_ps3_010112.bin. Additionally, the demo was dumped and released by Forest of Illusion; it's near identical to the one from the leak, spare for the checksum at 0xD5 being A1 46 60 instead of all zeros.

Main Gameplay Differences

• All the starter Pokémon had their evolution data removed.
• There is no continue option.
• Badges can't be viewed.
• The world map doesn't name the town you're currently in.
  • Interestingly enough, if the player hacks in a Pokémon with Fly then the map will show the town names as usual.

Demo Lockouts

Because this is a demo, there are some restrictions in place that can't be surpassed without using the debug menu or the use of hacks/cheats.

• There are two guards blocking the player from accessing Violet City or Dark Cave. When spoken to, both NPCs say the line "Hier geht es leider nicht weiter.", which translates to "Unfortunately, you can't go beyond here."
  • Interestingly enough, if the player uses a walk-through-wall codes to get to the Ruins of Alph or the Sprout Tower, guards identical to the ones mentioned above can be found.
