Prerelease:Crash Team Racing
This page details prerelease information and/or media for Crash Team Racing.
In a very early stage of development, there are many differences that are listed below:
Contents
Early Power-Up Icons
All are older icons of existing power-ups, except the first one:
-The first is a unused power-up, a spring that makes you hop high for a single time.
-The second is the early icon of the Warp Orb.
-The third is the early icon of the Power Shield.
-The fourth is the early icon of the Bowling Bomb.
-The fifth is the early icon of the Missile Tracker.
-The sixth is the early icon of the Aku Aku Mask.
-The seventh is the early icon of the Turbo
Coco Park
-The hill right after the start line has "COCO" written with flowers.
-The player appears to be in 2nd place, despite having so many racers in front.
-Tiny is the character in use, but his icon is in 3rd place instead of 2nd.
-There is an extra Tiny Tiger near the hill.
-The original Bowling Bomb icon is shown.
-The lap counter used to be separated by a hyphen rather than a slash.
-Early icons of the characters are shown.
-The Turbo Pad is pointing to a wrong direction.
Early Warp Vortex
-The warp vortex is surrounded by a checkered pattern. This feature actually ended up being too heavy for the PlayStation hardware, so it ended up being removed.
Roo Tubes
-Roo's Tubes used to look a lot greener and had different structures around the glass ceiling.
-The early Turbo Boost icon is shown.
-Instead of one Wumpa Crate, there are 4 Wumpa fruits in the road.
Dragon Mines
-The lights of the mine carts in Dragon Mines used to be red instead of white.
Early Start Lights
-The start lights at the beginning of each race used to look different.
Early Start Lines
-The start line in each track used to be unique. For some reason, they were all changed to the ribbon saying "CTR" in the final version.
-The old speedometer is shown.
-The removed Spring power-up icon is shown.
-Old icons of characters are shown
-Again, the start line is different from the others.
-Notice how the Wumpa counter shows that the player has 11 Wumpa.
-Despite showing that the player is in 6th place, his icon says that he is in 1th place.
Oxide Station
File:Crash-Team-Racing-Oxide-station-1-1.png File:Crash-Team-Racing-Oxide-station-1-2.png
-A removed portion of the track that would go from a ramp into one of four possible tubes.
-Notice that there are no icons of the other racers besides the one from Crash, probably early Time Trial.
-Seeing the final icon of the Speedometer and the power-ups (see below) this was changed very late.
-The old icon of Crash is shown.

-The low-gravity area used to have turbo pads pointing at wrong directions.
-The middle bit had floor textures not used in the final version.

-Right after the low-gravity area, the tunnel leading to the big fall used to be entirely covered in turbo pads, even on the walls and the ceiling.
Hot Air Skyway
-The airships used to have Cortex's face on them instead of Pinstripe's. Since Cortex already has his own track (Cortex Castle), this was probably changed so that it would become Pinstripe's track.
-Despite showing the player is in 4th place, the characters icon shows that Dingodile is in 4th place.
-Removed Wumpa fruit in the middle of the road, possibly replaced by one Wumpa Crate behind.
-The Cortex Airship can be seen.
-Despite showing that the player is in 5th place, the icons shows that is in 1st place, also notice how N.Gin's position in both his icon and in the race (if player's 5th place is right) are correct (4th place), meaning that player's correct position is in 5th place.
Slide Coliseum/Turbo Track
-The requirement to unlock Turbo Track in Adventure mode was originally 15 relics, instead of 5 gems.
-Due the image is cut, it can't be seen if Slide Coliseum has the same requirements (15 relics) as Turbo Track or remain his final requirements (10 relics).
-Notice how the player is already in Gem Stone Valley having 3 trophies and no keys, which requirements to enter are 4 trophies and 1 key.
-No other symbols besides the Tracks and the Gem Cups are seen in the map (No save monitor, no Boss Symbol, no Other Zones Road).
-The symbol that represents the player is different than the one from the final version, seems that is the one that all the CPU players use.
