Producer Interview

This is an interview with the creator and producer of the Soul series Hiroaki Yotoriyama. It's dated March 18th 2005. It shows off concept art, the Chronicles of the Sword Mode, character storyboards, motion capture and the Character Creation Mode. It has many noticeable differences.

  • The area around the enemy stronghold in Chapter 6 of Chronicles of the Sword Mode is unfinished.
  • The surrounding encampments defending the enemy stronghold in Chapter 6 of Chronicles of the Sword Mode at 1:48 are VERY different.
  • There is a person moving around the castle walls from 1:48-1:54.
  • Siegfried's second costume design at 2:13 is VERY different to what he wears in the final game.
  • The Character Creation looked VERY different, given that it is from early development.
  • The body options for Character Creation had different names and there was originally going to be more to it, which can all be seen at 3:00. There is more options for face. The torso body option was originally called "Jacket". You could only apply parts to one arm and shoulder. Pants were going to be wearable and have more options. There is no waist option. The feet option was originally called "Shoes".
  • The good/evil personality scale wasn't implemented yet.
  • There is no job name for the created character. It looks like the job system wasn't created until later.

Making of Chronicles of the Sword Mode

This looks at the Chronicles of the Sword Mode. It's dated 12th September 2005, a month before the game was released. It has many glaring differences.

  • The health bars for the player and enemy are different, have a different colour and lack their country insignia. They change throughout the video.
  • The health bar for the stronghold is different and a different colour.
  • The player options at 0:40 are different, in different positions and lacking. This is likely from an early build. Fortify was originally known as "Strong Point". There is a option called "Skill" present. "Equip" is not part of it.
  • The health bars in a fight were red as opposed to green or purple in the final game.
  • The Briefing Menu at 2:02 is different. There are more options for it too. This is likely also from an early build.
