Many puzzles have clearer instructions in their JP and EU translations than the US version, like Puzzle 023 for example. And of course, many had their titles changed between versions, even between the US and UK versions. 

All puzzles relying on English wordplay had to be excised for the European releases since they are untranslatable in other languages, but this trend would continue and eventually creep even into the English versions for later games.

The JP version has “One of these kanji doesn’t belong”. The US version was changed to. It was later changed in the EU version.
The name of the puzzle in English is literally: "Kanji ostracized"

It was replaced with another variant of “How old is my father” puzzle variant. However, this puzzle is still in the US/EU version, even used, but not in the way you would think of: It’s the DLC Puzzle W13. Obviously, it was heavily censored with an entirely different, far easier formulation.
