This is a sub-page of Proto:Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!.

So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Check differences from PAL and NTSC-J versions of Crash Team Racing, as this info is from the NTSC-U version
  • Someone with a better knowledge on Spyro 2 could point differences from this version and the final game
  • Check if there are more levels accessible by cheats
  • Maybe some content wasn't shown here, so edit if needed

This demo is bundled with Crash Team Racing and can be accessed from its main menu by holding R1+L1 and pressing Down, Circle, Triangle and Right (on NTSC-U/PAL). On this demo you can only access "Magma Cone" and "Colossus" levels. On the Pause menu you can't access the "Guidebook" and the "Save Game" function. Oddly, on the Options menu shows that the screen is centered at Horizontal -16 and Vertical -16, where it should be zeroed. After you finish a level you are taken back to the level select menu.

Differences from Early Demo

Here the "Orbs" term is used as in the final, even though none of the characters mentions this word.

Colossus Level

You can access the room where the hockey players await for you to trigger the event in the same way that in the final game, by using glitches. Also the top of one of the buildings don't have collision, so you can glide into them.

Differences between sentences

Brother Ned say that "Even though I'm a vegetarian, I think you should torch that yeti.", but the dialogue differs from the text in-game and it says about "...you should kill that yeti." , even though you dont actually "kill" it as the ceiling falls when you trigger the event and squishes the yeti. Also there is some punctuation from Brother Arnie that feels off.

Magma Cone

You can access the last orb quicky if you jump from the outside and glide into the volcano, bypassing the 100 gem toll. Because of that, you can't get up anymore, so the only way out is by closing the volcano top and retrieving the talisman for the area.
