This is a sub-page of Proto:Star Fox 2.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document this build from the July Gigaleaks.
  • Cover how this differs from the June 22, 1995 build.

The ROM's file path is other.7z\SFC.7z\SFC\ソースデータ\StarFox2\SF2\SF.ROM, however, its header needs to be patched to make it bootable. Apply this patch to fix it.

General Differences

  • The Nintendo logo when booting up the game is the same shape as later builds, but the texture is still the one from the Winter CES build.
  • Andross' intro has a more firey-looking background.
    • Andross' opening dialogue is colored differently; The first textbox is black, the second is blue, and the third is red.
  • The first world map cutscene gets to General Pepper quicker than later builds.
    • The health bar + 5 bombs are displayed on the map during this cutscene.
  • All characters still have the same amount of health and default special weapons (10 health, 5 bombs)
  • Miyu and Fay do not start with twin blasters.
  • Miyu and Fay's arwings look more like Fox and Falco's on the pilot select screen, though aren't exactly the same.
  • Although all characters have the same sized charge gauges, they charge at the same speed that they would in later builds.
  • Instead of showing stats, the designation of each Arwing is shown, similar to the Winter CES build.
  • It is not possible to switch pilots on the map with the Select button.
  • When returning to the world map, a sound effect plays. This is absent in the June 22, 1995 build, but was reinstated in the final.
  • The first-person mode has been re-instated from the pre-Winter CES builds, but it is not switched to automatically in space battles, defaulting to the third-person camera.
  • The Walker doesn't make any sound when moving normally, but does have audio when dropping from a height or strafing.
  • The Walker's strafing animation is similar to earlier builds where it side hops.
  • Unlike later builds, the Walker can jump with both A and Y in the default control scheme.
  • The twinkle sound for Star Wolf's entry is missing.
  • Star Wolf's Wolfens are almost completely grey, lacking the blue or red coloring depending on the pilot.
  • The bug where you could transform into the Walker in space battles in the June 22, 1995 build does not exist.
  • Frame rates seem to be generally worse than other builds.
  • This build has a tendency to softlock after certain events, such as when Andross speaks on the map, or when the door to Fortuna's base opens.
