Specifically: level maps

This subpage details all the levels of World 4. This is one of the more changed worlds between the ys_romX_0 build and this build, replacing test levels with actual levels...that still aren't in the final game anyway.

World 4-1

What was once a test room for all the Mini-Battles in the ys_romX_0 build now became a jungle level featuring slippery mud and small platforms floating above water...oh, a lot of monkeys and a lot of watermelons to eat. Do note that the background glitches up when touching the goal ring.

The backgrounds used in this level are still present in the final game, albeit unused.

Watermelons use a completely different and less realistic sprite than in the final game, being egg-shaped and green with yellow spots. If it looks familiar, it's because the early design managed to survive into the final icon for World 3-1, Welcome to Monkey World.

World 4-2

World 4-3

What was once a test room for all the jungle tileset in the ys_romX_0 build now became a two-part Jungle level. The first half starts out with an autoscroller featuring treacherous platforming on palm trees and wood posts as well as small branching paths. The Chain Chomp chained to the log at the beginning sometimes fails to spawn and the auto scroll camera goes a little bit below the intended boundary at the checkpoint, showing off cut-off geometry.

The second half starts out like a flat stretch of sand with a few sand walls and a lot of watermelon-throwing and seed spitting monkeys...except there are also two Chomp Shark sequences, followed by a small puzzle where you need to create a bridge that leads up to an area previously destroyed by the second Chomp Shark to then create a door that leads to the exit.

World 4-4

World 4-5

What was once presumably a test room for Yoshi's train transformation in the ys_romX_0 build now became a swamp level featuring many Spear Guys, fake flowers you need to platform on (which acted like bumpers in this build, unlike the final version where they are actual enemies) and a giant fish that will try to eat you. However, getting eaten doesn't kill you, as you instead just wrap back to the top of the screen.
