At one point in time it seems as if Konami was considering dropping the "Dark Duel Stories" Subtitle, in favor of simply calling it "Yu-Gi-Oh!". All traces of "Dark Duel Stories" has been wiped clean from the script, the title screen as well and even the header information (The US version is "YUGIOUDS", while this prototype is "YU GI OH"

This localization still seems to retain the card types from the US version of the game:

The Water element is still labeled as Aqua
