Proto:Yume Nikki/Version 0.06/Main Maps
This is a sub-page of Proto:Yume Nikki/Version 0.06.
| This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
Many maps went through some degree of change between 0.06 and 0.10's release. Some locations did not exist yet, which also means that the events specific to those maps have not been implemented. The dream world is overall more interconnected, with a lot of worlds having gates that gradually lead into other locations that you would have had to return to the Nexus to access.
A pink gate that later went unused in 0.10 is used in a great number of maps in 0.06, along with a grey gate that is used in 0.10. It is important to note this because very few unique gate / map teleporting graphics exist at this point, so in most cases, they will be the only kind of gate that you see.
A whopping 40 maps all share the same placeholder name with a number tacked on. These maps are known as 小マップ (Small Map). This was changed by the time 0.10 was released so that maps have more descriptive names.

Comparison of Map Names
| To do: Add remaining maps in Small Map set, and FC World. |
A great number of maps had their names changed at some point in development. Some changes are minor with different symbols, while others are completely different. The following tables compare all 111 maps present in 0.06 to their counterparts in 0.10, if they exist.
Main Maps
| 0.06 (Japanese) | 0.06 (Translated) | 0.10 (Japanese) | 0.10 (Translated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| テストマップ1 | Test Map 1 | テストマップ1 | Test Map 1 | Main debug map |
| テストマップ2 | Test Map 2 | N/A | N/A | Stairs debug map. FC Dungeon 002? occupies its spot under RPG Maker 2003 in 0.10, but the map IDs are not identical. |
| ゲームスタート | Game Start | ゲームスタート | Game Start | Used when starting a new game. |
| 現実「部屋 | Real "Room | 現実の部屋 | Real Room | Madotsuki's room in the real world. The quotation mark in 0.06's name may be a typo. |
| ベランダA | Veranda A | ベランダ | Veranda | Madotsuki's balcony in the real world. There are two maps present for it in 0.06, but only one in 0.10. The parallax background was changed to be randomized on the map itself, rather than have two separate maps for each background. |
| ベランダB | Veranda B | N/A | N/A | In 0.06, you are randomly sent to this map instead of Veranda A to show the other parallax background for Madotsuki's balcony. |
| 夢「部屋 | Dream "Room | 夢の部屋 | Dream Room | Madotsuki's room in the dream world. The quotation mark in 0.06's name may be a typo. |
| 夢ベランダA | Dream Veranda A | 夢ベランダA | Dream Veranda A | Madotsuki's balcony in the dream world. Unlike the map in the real world, this map is still split in two for both 0.06 and 0.10. |

| 7自転車(BG未 | 7Bicycle (No BG yet | ■07自転車 | ■07Bicycle | Graffiti World. Uses same parallax background as 0.10. "No BG yet" is likely referring to the more simplistic tile art in 0.06. |

| 9小人/太る | 9Midget/Fat | ■09小人 | ■09Midget | Candle World. While the Fat effect is not in this map in 0.06, a gate that takes you to Hell can be accessed, where you can find the fun house mirror to obtain the effect. |

Small Map Set
In 0.06, 40 maps all share the same Small Map name with a number or letter tacked on. This was changed in 0.10 to give the maps more descriptive names.
| 0.06 (Japanese) | 0.06 (Translated) | 0.10 (Japanese) | 0.10 (Translated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| 小マップ2 | Small Map 2 | ネオンタイルA | Neon Tile A | Neon Tile World. 0.10 has two Neon Tile maps, but Neon Tile A is the closest equivalent to Small Map 2. |
Map Differences
Madotsuki's Room
- The image displayed on the TV in the dream world is different. This image also exists in 0.10 on the same sprite sheet.
- The KALIMBA TV Channel event did not exist yet.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
Block World
- The Mafurako NPC is not present. She is found on the Checkered Tile Path instead.
- The Severed Head effect can be found on the lower end of the map.
- There is a grey gate on the higher plane that leads to an event that was removed. Mafurako will teleport you to it from the aforementioned Checkered Tile Path. The color of this gate was altered to black & white, along with the destination to White Desert A in 0.10.
- A pink gate can be found on the ground plane that takes you to the Neon Tile Path.
- Version 0.06 has less block structures than 0.10.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
The removed event has Madotsuki walk to the right to enter a bed. This triggers switch 138 to have an unavoidable Toriningen chase after you. Getting caught by it places you in the black void of Footprint Path 2, where the Goppa creatures reside. The music used on this map is Block World's at a 50% tempo.
Graffiti World
- The tile layout on the right side is much simpler.
- Two gates instead of just one: The pink gate goes to the Mall, like the elevator in 0.10. The grey gate leads to the Neon Tile Path.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
Lamp World
| To do: Upload music |
Number World did not exist yet, so Lamp World is accessed from the Nexus.
- The layout is completely different, though like in 0.10, the Lamp effect is still found here.
- Stabbing the Toriningen inside the bed room and getting caught by it will send you to the Guillotine Room.
- The candle near the bloodstain can be stabbed to put out the flame, but does not have any other properties.
- The pink gate leads to the Footprint Path.
- The grey gate leads to the Checkered Tile Path.
- The short lamp takes you to the small area in the Checkered Tile Path where Closet Madotsuki is, like in 0.10.
- The music used is different, and is likely an early version of the Toriningen Beat.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
Guillotine Room
- Only the smaller variant exists in 0.06. An additional larger version of the room was added in 0.10.
- The Guillotine NPC for the Severed Head effect is not here, and is in Block World for some reason.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
Mini Hell
Known in 0.06 as 小マップ7.
- Two gates are present: The left-hand gate leads to Hell, while the right-hand gate takes you to Eyeball World.
- The cupboards in 0.10 simply return you back to the bed room in Number World.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
Hell
| To do: Compare the destinations of the gates, and get a screenshot of the mirror. |
Known in 0.06 as 小マップ8.
- All of the map teleportation methods use a grey gate, making navigation more confusing. This was thankfully changed to only one grey gate by the time of 0.10's release.
- The Henkei Shita is grey and stabbing it does not have any chance of teleporting Madotsuki to the Footprint Path.
- A mirror can be found on the upper portion of the map that gives the Fat effect. This effect is found in The Docks from the Strober NPC in 0.10.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
FC World
The overworld's layout is similarly shaped in some parts, yet still quite different from 0.10. Like version 0.10, much of it is unused. Only the island on the leftmost side is accessible.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
|---|---|
FC House
The music used in the Goblin Room is slightly longer, and has different instrumentation.
| 0.06 | 0.10 |
