Wizard Card Club "Derek"

What's the source on the name "Derek" for the guy that runs the card club? Is it mentioned in-game? --Tarltarasa 11:40, 12 April 2013 (EDT)

His name is revealed in one of the cut lines. --M64m (talk) 15:40, 13 March 2015 (EDT)

Text Rip

How did you guys get the text from the game ripped? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roseputter (talk) • (contribs)

Beta Screenshot

Found this screenshot while installing Chamber of Secrets on PC. The assets look similar to those found in Sorcerer's Stone for GBC but the battle menu GUI is that of Chamber of Secrets. In addition you appear to be fighting Giant Rats on Hogwart's Grounds, something that, to my knowledge, doesn't happen in the final release. Sorry I couldn't get a better rip, the files are stored in a format unknown to me.

How was the text ripped?

I'm still wondering what method was used to rip the unused text from this game. Does anybody have a .tbl file or anything to read the text from the hex? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roseputter (talk) • (contribs)

Hi Roseputter, the text is stored compressed in the ROM, so a .tbl file won't do. I wrote a cruddy Python script to dump it a long time ago: https://github.com/Sanqui/romhacking/blob/master/hp/hp_decmp.py --Sanqui 08:24, 7 February 2019 (EST)
Thanks. Do you also know a way to edit and then compress it back into the ROM? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roseputter (talk) • (contribs)
You would have to write a compressor, or modify the game's routines to handle uncompressed text. I'm afraid I don't have free time to work on these things though :) --Sanqui 10:24, 7 February 2019 (EST)
