Version Differences
Japanese Version 1.0 Differences
Japanese version 1.0 or "Initial version" spots many differences from the second famous revision. Notable differences in the initial version include many changes such as a different sound effect for leveling up, a new A-TYPE song and an overall slightly less polished game. The initial version was only sold in Japan, came in a Special Link Bundle and is estimated to have sold around 25,000 copies before Nintendo switched over to version 1.1 for the rest of the print making.
Copyright Screen
Version 1.0 has a much shorter copyright screen than 1.1, lasting only for three seconds. The copyright screen for Version 1.1 last for ten seconds, though pressing start after six seconds will go straight to the Title Screen.
Music and Sounds
Version 1.0 features an alternate A-TYPE song, and a different Level Up sound rather than a short jingle as used in 1.1.

Level 9
In the Initial version you must score twenty lines on level nine to proceed to level 10. Version 1.1 requires one hundred lines on level nine to advance to level ten.
Block Rotation Glitch
In the Initial version there is a glitch that lets you rotate a block while clearing a line, multiple lines, or a Tetris. This glitch can only happen if there is room.
