While the party menu seems very similar to the Generation I games, the HP bar was changed and remained that way for the final game. In the 1999 promotional video, the text box on the bottom removed one line to fill the "Back" menu underneath the Pokémon party, very close to the final game. In the end, the HP bar and the HP numbers were swapped.
