Ultra Tank is the final game in Atari's Tank series, which would soon be eclipsed by the 1980 game Battlezone. It's also the last game Atari released under the "Kee Games" facade. It's like the first Tank game with more options. Apparently that's enough to earn it the word "Ultra".

Unused Graphics

Land mines tend to explode
A small unused explosion. Because these are foreground graphics, not object graphics, it as most likely intended for the similarly foreground-based land mines.

Ah yes, the legendary Irata corporation
Copyright tiles that come in three different flavors! Probably intended as a fail-safe in case some company wanted to clone the game and claim it as their own.
