This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

This page details one or more prototype versions of Souzooka.

Cacti speak Japanese.
...But what does it mean?
This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation!

WARNING: Language tag not added.

The last image of the type-A and the type-B trailer are different, due to the game being delayed so it could not be released in 2005, like it is said on the type-A demo. Get a comparison!

While many of the assets for other areas were taken out, atlas (map data) exists for some areas outside of the demo area. ROOT.FAT lists these files:

AREA01\ATL_01_01_01_1F.DAT (top floor of banquet hall)
AREA01\ATL_01_01_01_2F.DAT (??? Unused)
AREA01\ATL_01_01_01_3F.DAT (third floor...)
AREA01\ATL_01_01_01_4F.DAT (Fourth, also used before flooding)
AREA01\ATL_01_01_05.DAT (Downtown Geo!)
AREA01\ATL_01_99_00.DAT (Tutorial)
AREA01\ATL_01_99_00_P.DAT (???)
AREA02\ATL_02_01_00_1F.DAT (2nd character, apartment building...)
AREA02\ATL_02_01_00_4F.DAT (etc.)
AREA02\ATL_02_02_00_B1.DAT (Jail?)
AREA02\ATL_02_02_00_B1_2.DAT (???)
AREA02\ATL_02_02_00_1F.DAT (Outside jail?)
AREA02\ATL_02_03_00.DAT (Downtown Geo as Amber)

Now that I have figured out how to extract ROOT.DAT, I should use TextER on these files.

Type-A supposedly came out somewhere around the end of Sept/towards October 2004, around TGS 2004. I believe it was shown at TGS.

The rope in the destroyed banquet hall area is likely to get past the obstacle that you need the bullhorn for in the final game. I don't know how this would happen, but evidence in the final game suggests that this sequence was changed. For example, dialogue between the head waiter and Joshua for that segment has a higher sound ID than most other voice lines in the area, which suggests that it was added later. Also, there is unused descriptive text ("Hold on." "Use the rope to get over here...") following "Construction materials are left here. I can't get to the other side." and "Oh, no. I can't go through here."

Unused and demo-exclusive sounds
