Xevious (Arcade)
| This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |

Developer:
Namco
|
A much-loved top-down shooter with a startlingly over-complicated backstory that factors into the game in exactly zero ways. A "sequel" called Super Xevious was also released that made the game harder and fixed some bugs.
Unused Graphics
This Galaxian flagship enemy is used in Super Xevious, but goes unused in Xevious.
Developer Credit
Xevious contains a hidden developer message that, for once, is quite easy to find. Start level one, then immediately fly to the right and mash the Bomb button for a while. The message "NAMCO ORIGINAL program by EVEZOO" will appear at the bottom of the screen, and you'll be rewarded with a whopping ten points.
This trick also works in Super Xevious, but with a subtly different message: "Special thanks for you by game designer EVEZOO"
When the game was remade as Xevious Arrangement on Namco Classic Collection Vol. 1, the message was changed: "This game is dedicated to the original XEVIOUS staff."
In the original Xevious, this trick also doubles as an anti-piracy method! On pirated boards, the message changes to "DEAD COPY production/copy under NAMCO program". This check seems to have been removed in Super Xevious.
Namco Museum DS keeps this easter egg intact, with a setting in the "Hardcore Options" menu to display the DEAD COPY message instead.
