Level Notes
The sheer amount of missing or incomplete elements related to Worlds 9 through D is rather striking. Maybe they were among the last things to be added to Deluxe and there simply wasn't enough development time left to finish them?
World 9
9-1:
- All enemies present, though the Piranha Plants from floor pipes are green rather than red.
- Level layout is complete.
- Flag at end of level, but level can't be completed.
9-2:
- All enemies present, though the Piranha Plants from floor pipes are green rather than red.
- Level layout is complete.
- Flag at end of level. Exit is glitched, but the level can be completed!
9-3:
- All enemies present.
- Level layout is complete.
- No flag at end of level.
- The background is black, as opposed to the sky blue it is in the original release.
9-4:
- All enemies present.
- Level layout is complete.
- No flag at end of level.
World A
A-1:
- All enemies present, though the Piranha Plants from floor pipes are green rather than red.
- Level layout is complete.
- Springboards aren't placed.
- Flag at end of level, but it's bugged - stuck in the sky.
A-2:
- All enemies present, though the Piranha Plants from floor pipes are green rather than red.
- Level layout is incomplete: the pipe at the end leads to World 1-1, as does the Warp Zone.
- Springboards are placed!
A-3:
- All enemies present.
- Level layout is complete, though the section after the flagpole is inaccessible.
- The wind is not present.
- Flag at end of level. Exit glitched, but level can be completed!
A-4:
- Enemy layout is incomplete: most fire bars are placed incorrectly, and Bowser appears earlier than intended.
- Level layout is complete.
- Toad also appears earlier than intended.
- Axe is at the end, but level can't be completed.
World B
B-1:
- Enemy layout is incomplete, as Piranha Plants are missing.
- Level layout is complete.
- Springboards are not placed.
- No platform is present in the bonus area.

B-2:

D-3:
- Enemy layout is incomplete, as the Bullet Bills and Piranha Plants are missing.

- Due to missing objects, it's impossible to reach the end without cheating.
- No flag at end of level.
D-4:
- Enemy layout is very incomplete: the first section is missing Piranha Plants and Cheep Cheeps, while the other sections have no enemies at all.
- All sections after the first have no objects, either.
- Wind is not present.
- Due to missing objects, it's impossible to reach the end without cheating.
- Axe is at the end (surprisingly!), but level can't be completed (unsurprisingly).
Tiles 'n' Stuff
These palettes of the Used Block appear if some objects exclusive to Challenge, VS, and You VS Boo modes are hacked into normal levels. They also exist as two unused metatiles: one with the Face Block behavior, the other with solid behavior.
There are some tiles with no graphics that are unused:
- 3B - Solid
- 3B - ? Block: Powerup
- 74 - ? Block: Powerup
- 75 - ? Block: Poison Mushroom
- 75 - ? Block: Powerup
- 79 - ? Block: Red Coin
- 75 - ? Block: Powerup
There are also some unused tiles that display used graphics, but have different behavior:
- 88 - Spiked Block: Doesn't retract.
- 0 - Half a Brick Block: Solid
- 97 and 98 - Sideways pipe with different palette
- 97 - Sideways pipe with different palette
Duplicate "Used Block" and railing metatiles also exist.
