Thank you for playing Sand-R.
This is a response to the people wondering "Why CRI and not SEGA?"
You see, the Sand-R machines that line the arcades were created by CRI.
In fact, the Mega Drive and Game Gear versions of Tant-R and Ichidant-R
were ported by CRI, as well. That means that the quality of the arcade
mode port should be perfect. (Though, that being said, we turned down
the difficulty a bit so that it would easy for regular players, too...)
You don't see our company name displayed in many places, but we've done
a variety of stuff. Recently, there’s a big title that is a side-scrolling action
game using a lot of buttons from a certain super famous mecha character...
and then... Well, putting that aside, as for me personally, until now I had only
been helping with the planning of the Tanto series, but this time I received a
rather challenging task to "try to port the arcade version in a very short
period of time to make it fun," and unexpectedly, I was put in charge of the
planning for this Saturn version. Due to the short period of time, I wasn't able
to do anything too drastic, but I tried to incorporate elements that couldn't be
added to the arcade version due to various constraints. I completely understand
the desire for a 4-player mode, but unfortunately, due to various circumstances,
it couldn't be realized this time, and I had to give up. I'm sorry. I wanted it too...
In exchange for that, I thought about how to make it enjoyable for a long time
even when playing alone, and of course, how to make it even more fun when
playing with two players. How do you think it turned out? I previously planned
a game for the Mega Drive called "Dyna Brothers 2," and those who have played
it may sense its essence in various parts of this software. (There are some spots
that are just "exactly the same!") I'm also thinking a bit about a Saturn version of
Dyna, so please look forward to that as well. Due to time constraints, there may
be some rough areas in the finer details, but I believe that the graphics and sound,
among other things, have turned out quite well thanks to the serious efforts of the
team members. If you liked Sand-R at the arcade and someone bought this for you,
I'm sure you will enjoy it. If you have any thoughts or opinions about the software,
please let us know through the survey postcards. We will use your feedback as a
reference for future software development. I will continue to strive to create
software that many people can enjoy, so I appreciate your continued support.
