Escalator Signs
Unused escalator signs. Probably could've appeared on walls near where escalators appear.
Unused Manhole Textures
Unused textures and maps for the manhole lids.
Unused Wall Mural
An unused wall mural, with it apparently being designed for Vincesauce, a popular Youtube and Twitch steamer. This was actually used in the leaked build of DLC 2 from April of 2019, but was removed from the final game for unknown reasons.
Unused Graffiti
Three more unused graffiti designs.
Unused Name Decal Texture
An unused decal texture that says "Lazy Paw Metro", which is the early name for the Chapter.
Unused Advertisements
An advertisement with a desert theme. Some have speculated that it was related to Sand 'n Sails somehow, although there is no basis for this other than the two sharing a desert theme.
Another unused advertisement. A variant of this ad in a different color is used in the level, however.
Basic Normal and PRM Maps
A normal map and PRM map that are labeled as 'basic' in their filenames, which may indicate that they were placeholders.
Early Metro Card Textures
Unused texture for an older version of the model for Metro Cards. Incompatible with the final's model.
Unused Underground Sign
A sign most likely meant for the manholes. It says exactly what you'd expect it to say.
Unused Ticket Advertisements
Unused advertisements that advertise the Metro Ticket items.
Solo Metro ATM Texture
A solo version of a graphic used within a different texture that is used as a floor mat in front of ATM machines in the level. This solo version of the graphic is never used anywhere.
Unused Departure Sign
An unused sign with apparent information on the different areas. ...Actually, the text at the top translates to "Departure", while the rest of the text is just gibberish.
Early Circle Sign Textures
Two texture for an early version of the giant, yellow circle signs in the metro. Incompatible with the final model.
Unused Wall
A noisy unused wall design with interesting color choices.
Unused Red Floor
An unused floor design used in (unused) test materials for tunnels.
Unused Parquet Floor
An unused parquet floor design.
Unused Stone Floor
Tiled Floor
An unused brown floor design used in an unused material.
Unused Checkerboard Texture
A checkerboard texture used in a couple unused materials.
Steel Textures
Steel textures. Could've been used in quite a lot places, really.
Hexagon Floor
A simple hexagon floor pattern.
Diagonal Scanline
A diagonal scanline masking texture. Likely meant for use in materials for the hologram advertisements, as a blurry version of this texture is used in them.
Placeholder Wood Floor
A very basic wood floor texture that is marked as, appropriately, placeholder, in its filename.
Unused Blue Trim Textures
Textures for a trim in Bluefin Tunnels somewhere. An early version of it also exists, and is compared below.
Early Unused | Unused |
---|---|
Unused Bluefin Pipes
An unused graphic for flat pipes in Bluefin Tunnels. Most likely meant for minor background detail somewhere.
Unused Hologram Pattern
An unused hologram texture used in two unused materials, the names of which indicate it was for some kind of hologram arrow.
Concept Guidelines
A texture that actually serves the role of guidelines for designing a section of Metro!
Concept Ceiling
Another texture with "concept" in its filename, this one seeming to be an actual texture for use within the metro. It appears to have been intended for a ceiling of some kind.
Cat Paws Mask Texture
A mask texture for large cat paws. Filename indicates it was to be used with the hologram rails somehow. Perhaps the Cat Trains were going to leave paw print marks on the hologram rails at one point?
Departure Sign Fan Mask
A masking texture for a tiny fan graphic for the floating departure signs. Unknown purpose.
Empress Store Backroom Texture
A texture that, according to its filename, was meant to be used in the backroom of Empress's store. In the final game, the backroom has a separate texture for each surface(walls, ceiling, floor) of the room, instead of having all of them in one.
Early Emissive Information Desk Map
A very rough, unused emissive map for the information desk. This design can be seen in use in the background image on the title screen when Empress appears.
Early Cat Text Decal
A decal of text meant to appear in the metro somewhere. The text says nothing. At least, nothing that can be translated. This either uses an early version of the cat language in the level, or is just random symbols. This was imported in September of 2018, making it one of the earliest Nyakuza Metro assets still in the Modding Tools.
Unused Generic Shop Designs
Two unused designs for generic shops in the metro that the player can't enter. In-game, only the green variant is used.
Unused Bluefin Ticket Booth Normal Map
A normal map for a diamond glass design meant for the ticket booths the player buys Metro Tickets from. This went unused because the one in Bluefin Tunnels that was meant to use this accidentally had the glass material for Pink Paw Station applied by default instead of the unique material made for Bluefin's booth. Oops.
Large Wall Textures
Two textures that depict a large wall of Metro, having posters and other details as part of the texture rather than being separate models. The second texture here is called "Placeholder" in its filename.
Unused Wall Texture
An unused wall design that looks fairly different from areas in the metro. The lights along the top of the texture look somewhat poorly implemented into the texture, not blending well with the wall behind them.
Test Wall Textures
A plain white wall texture used in unused tunnel test materials.
Test Tunnel Textures
Two more test textures meant for tunnels. For some reason, the first one here is 4K in resolution. Its normal map is only 1024x1024.
Jonas Test Texture
A large, 4K resolution texture that is called 'jonas_test'. Appears to be a copy of an early version of a wall in Bluefin Tunnels, albeit with an alpha channel applied. Unknown purpose.
Plastic Texture Maps
A whole bunch of texture maps for plastic, according to their filenames. Purposes unknown.
Unused Star And Diamond Textures
Two odd graphics, called "The Destroy" and "The Diamond". Unknown purpose.
Round Decal Texture
A circular masking texture that appears to depict dirt. Used in an unused decal material for the 'diamond' texture above.
Station Decal Texture
The two large symbols say "2" and "8", while the text underneath both of them say "station". Unknown purpose, but maybe meant to be used near Cat Trains.
Unused Travel Ad
An unused advertisement, appearing to depict the Conductor's train.
Unused Station Listings Graphic
A texture with the symbols for each of the different areas. The texts reads, from top to bottom: "SPHYINX CALICO SPHINX MUNCHKIN".
Unused ATM PRM Map
An unused PRM map texture for the ATMs in the level.
Blue Wall Masking Texture
An unused masking texture for some walls in Bluefin Tunnels.
Placeholder Sign Graphics
Placeholder graphics for the hologram warning signs and a poster that tells the player to avoid jumping on trains. In the final game, the poster instead warns the player of not being able to stand on the hologram tracks.
Placeholder Advertisement Texture
A placeholder texture for some of the hologram advertisements that can be seen in the final game.
Unused Rail Lookup Textures
These textures are used to influence the appearance of certain details on the hologram tracks. Four of these exist in the Modding Tools, but only one is used in the final game.
Barrier Mask Texture
An unused masking texture for Cat Train barriers.
Emissive Food Truck Texture
An emissive map texture for the yellow food truck.
Early Metro Intro Room Normal Map
A normal map for a texture used in the early version of the intro room leftover in the Modding Tools.
Tunnel Sign Normal Map
A normal map for a texture for signs used in tunnels.
Early Graphics
A handful of early graphics for various objects exist in the Modding Tools, some of which are placeholders, while others are just different designs. Each of these early graphics have their own dedicated material unless otherwise noted.
Metro Departure Sign Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The sign is much brighter and has a sickly green color, while the final's is more clear and bare. The information graphics are also completely different. This is the version of the texture being used for the signs in the early leak of Nyakuza Metro.
Metro Sign Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The location of each color on the top part was changed, and the graphics are much more basic. The bottom part just has basic lines and shapes instead of actual information.
Pink Glass Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The pattern is completely different in the material, and its appearance is overall darker than the final game's. The texture's own pattern, however, is similar to the final's, with the final mostly adding more triangles and getting rid of the two chevrons and circle.
Pink Hologram Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The images for the holograms on the sides of the walls is slightly different, and the text is larger and has a gradient applied to it. The text also doesn't scroll in the early material.
Green Glass Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The pattern, overall, is completely different, with the only similarity being that they both use squares in the design. The early material is slightly darker than the final game's.
Green Floor Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The older version is way brighter, there are less squares in the pattern, which are bigger, and the material is not animated.
Yellow Cat Hologram Texture
There is no specific model in-game that actually has this applied by default (meaning that in Nyakuza Metro, a simple plane model is used instead), so the textures are compared directly here:
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version lacks a gradient and is looking straight forward. This version can actually be seen in the background on the file select menu when Empress appears on it.
Pink Cat Hologram Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version has its eyes more open, the eyebrows are thinner and are longer lines, and it lacks the whisker details that the final version has.
Cat Tracks
Early | Final |
---|---|
The earlier version is darker, the lights lining the inside segment are bluer, and it has a light rim and additional horizontal segment at the top. It's also higher resolution than the final's. The design of the bottom horizontal segment is slightly different.
Cat Clock Normal Map
Early | Final |
---|---|
The hands were added to the design of the normal map in the final, and additional detail was also added to the circle on the right.
Generic Shop
Early | Final |
---|---|
The color of the yellow on the right side of the top banner was slightly adjusted, the green to the left of that yellow part was made darker, and the signs below were made to use the cat language instead of English. Some additional details were altered below the main sign as well.
Green Machine
The early version has two versions of its diffuse texture provided here. One with its alpha channel, and one without.
Early | Final |
---|---|
There differences here are....pretty much night and day. The only similarities the two share are the shapes on the right side of the textures.
Ice Cream Shop
Did not have its own material, so a copy of the final's was used with the early version swapped in.
Early | Final |
---|---|
Oooh, yeah. The differences here should be very obvious. It's possible that the early version was made for an earlier version of the ice cream shop model.
Hologram Pillar
Early | Final |
---|---|
Extra detail was added to the bottom right part of the texture in the final, as well as a gradient to the horizontal light. The early version appeared to have some kind of pattern going on at the top, while the final's does away with it in favor of its own pattern, albeit far more blurry.
Tunnel Roof
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version is twice the resolution of the final's. The holes in the grating were made bigger, and the lights were made an oval shape with circular lights in them instead of just circular lights.
Tunnel Floor
Early | Final |
---|---|
The resolution is, again, twice as big as the final's. The only other noticeable difference is the lack of lights in the final version.
Track Floor
Early | Final |
---|---|
The resolution is, once again, twice as big as the final's. The lighting in the center is darker in the early version, and the blue lights at both sides of the center metal are much bluer. They also cut off at the bottom of the early texture, for some reason. The horizontal chunk of metal in the center part of the texture is at the top of the early version, while it is present at the bottom in the final version. Finally, like the previous above texture, there are yellow lights along the sides that were removed in the final version.
Tunnel Sign
Early | Final |
---|---|
The diffuse texture for a tunnel sign was completely recolored for the ability to appear as multiple different colors instead of just pink. The cat symbol in the top left is missing in the early version's normal map.
Tunnel Pillar
Early | Final |
---|---|
The bricks in the early design are brighter, and there are minor detail tweaks between the two.
Bluefin Wall
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version's bottom pattern is much darker, and the light in the middle isn't as bright. The early design is also 4K in resolution, while the final's is 1024x1024.
Plant Pots
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version is white, lacks extra details that the final version has, and the wood texture is much simpler.
Early | Final |
---|---|
The final version has a higher resolution and the colors are slightly more saturated on the upper half of the texture.
Hanging Platform
Early | Final |
---|---|
The early version lacks several details and has bigger holes on the grate.
Sushi Tower Desk
Unused | Used |
---|---|
An alternate version of the sushi table detail with much more detailed green food.
Sushi Tower
Unused | Used |
---|---|
Lots of tiny details for each food, but the biggest and most noticeable difference in the texture is the lack of alpha on the upper pieces of food in the unused version. The final version is also twice the resolution.
Train Glow Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
The final version is higher resolution and has an additional mask defined on the left side. These two textures were imported about 20 minutes apart from each other.
Empress Room Design
Did not have their own materials, so a copy of the final's was made with the early versions swapped in.
Early | Final |
---|---|
An earlier design for the walls, displays, and main desk of Empress's store. The biggest difference is the emblem at her desk, which is much rougher than the final version.
Early | Final |
---|---|
The rest of the interior, with the walls being significantly less detailed than the final's. The ceiling and floors both use completely different designs.
Store Floor Pattern
Early | Final |
---|---|
The floor pattern for the store was not only much more tiled than the final game's, but also much higher resolution, too.
Ticket Booth
Did not have its own material, so a copy of the final's was made with the early version swapped in. The scrolling text was disabled in the material due to it not fitting on the texture appropriately.
Early | Final |
---|---|
Quite a few differences, here. The most major differences are: the early version sports a blue color, lacks scrolling text at the top, and features a different symbol in the middle of the glass.
Ticket Gate
Did not have its own material, so a copy of the final's was made with the early versions swapped in.
Early | Final |
---|---|
The lights are green instead of yellow, the white parts of the bottom machine have less shading, the top machine has a different picture and random gibberish instead of actual cat language text. The top part is also not illuminated in the early version.
Easter Egg Textures
Strange textures almost certainly made by Habboi that weren't included in the level.
A texture just for us, according to its filename. When translated, the text reads: "Nobody likes to eat spoiled eggs! Please try to find them before they go rotten"
