Avengers is an overhead beat 'em up. It doesn't star The Avengers, just two guys who want to avenge six kidnapped women and rescue their town from the forces of Geshita.

So what I'm saying is that there's no Hulk in this game.

Unused Graphics

Can-can you dig it?
A tiny version of the player character -- possibly meant to be used as a high score cursor -- doing a kicky dance. Look at him go!
Other things it is not: A dictionary, a lectern, an orange, and a DVD box set of The Critic
A land mine object that would, presumably, behave like a land mine, and not like a dog or hacksaw or porcupine.
50 points, that's worth displaying
Bonus graphics for smaller values. In the actual game, no point values are displayed for enemies worth less than 500 points.

Unused Music

ID# Track Notes
35
An alternate ending track, perhaps. It doesn't loop at all.
36
This track is played for about 5 seconds while the copyright message is on screen. What the track was formerly used for is unknown.

Development Text

A build date string can be found in the main CPU memory starting at 0x00058. This date is for the Japanese game; it was never updated for other versions.

Another string, a driver version number, is in the ADPCM program (Used for voice samples) starting at 0x0020:

 Talking forROM Ver 1.10

Regional Differences

High Score List

Japan International
They're still doing it! Whoa, effort man

High score names reduced from 10 to 3 characters. Effort for default names reduced to 0.

Ending

Japan International
Congrugruations Congregations?

The International game shifts around the tiles for the title screen without updating the tile map for the ending. This breaks the player portrait.
