Unused Announcer Call Lines
Amongst the announcer's voice clips circa the 2.0 Update are lines calling for characters that did not make it into the final game. Whether they were done as a placeholder or planned to be in future updates is unknown, but the amount of characters suggests the roster would have been about double the size of the final roster of 53 characters.
