Early Title Screen
An early version of the BTD6 Title screen. Has many less towers and bloons present, and uses tower portraits and upgrade icons rather than specific art for the image. The TD is the same size as the 6 instead of being smaller. Super Brittle is interesting too, having a stripe down the top of the head and no crown.
Extreme Icon
An icon for the Extreme track category, which was previously seen in BTD5. Interestingly, while this icon is not used anywhere in-game, the official Ninja Kiwi Discord server used to use this icon as an emote.
All Monkeys Icon
An icon for all monkeys allowed, placed right after the all heroes icon used in challenge editor. Challenges instead display every tower individually as to show what crosspathing options are allowed.
Hero Level Badges
Seven different icons exist for Hero levels, but only icons 3, 4, 6, and 7 are used in-game, leaving icons 1, 2, and 5 unused.
Elite Defender Buff Icons
Buff icons for the Elite Defender's passive abilities. These have existed since version 12.0, but have never been used.
Jungle's Bounty Buff Icon
A buff icon for the Jungle's Bounty. It was never used.
Monkeyopolis Buff Icon
A buff icon for Monkeyopolis. It is unused as this upgrade gives no buffs outside the ones its component upgrades give.
Early Beast Handler Buff Icons
Early beast buff icons for the then-upcoming Beast Handler tower which briefly existed in version 34.0. After the release of the Beast Handler on version 36.0, these icons were replaced by white silhouettes of the beasts on purple circles to better fit the Beast Power-based merging mechanic.
Relic Knowledge Buff Icons
Two buff icons for two Relic Knowledge Points that are present in the game. However, the buff icons themselves are not seen in-game.
Unused Relics
7 unused Relics exist in game, with descriptions and icons.
Monkey Academy Portrait
Portrait artwork for the unreleased Monkey Academy. Oddly, this image did not exist in the game's files until version 36.0. The file name refers to it as a 0-0-1 Monkey Academy.
Unused Monkey Village Icons
Unused Upgrade Icons for the Monkey Village Tower, Lots of differences such as looking slightly unfinished, and a different camera angle.
Interestingly enough, in the prototype build that these icons are from, the rest of the icons (300, 400, 030, 040, etc,) dont have their icons, they instead use their respective second tier icon.
Unused Banana Farm Icons
Unused version of 0-0-0 Banana Farm Tower Icon, shows some minor differences such as the style being different, and no dirt surrounding the Banana Farm. This design for the farm is present in the game's icon for when the 0-0-5 Monkey Village needs a Banana Farm in radius; It will replace the aforementioned upgrade's icon.
Unused version of 0-0-4 Banana Farm Tower Icon, shows some major differences, such as the floor not being rectangular, instead of being round, additionally, the inside of the building is empty unlike the final version. there is 3 flags on both sides of the roof, instead of two and a banana tree in the final version.
Unused version of 0-5-0 Banana Farm Tower Icon, shows a completely different design approach, the building is a darker shade of gray, there is 4 rows of windows instead of 1 large row, the building is much taller, the bottom of the building is textured differently aswell as not having an entrance, and the top of the building does not have windows, lastly, the flag has a banana on it and is yellow instead of orange.
Unused version of 0-0-5 Banana Farm Tower Icon, shows a major redesign, the building is now 3 stories, getting smaller every story, and having a pointed top, there are 3 flags with a banana on them in the front, and a black box in the back, unsure what this is. Curiously, it actually fits with the upgrade icon.
Unused Upgrade Potraits for the Banana Farm Tower, Lots of differences such as looking slightly unfinished, and a different camera angle.
Unused Spike Factory Icons
Unused (possibly used and replaced later?) Upgrade Icons for the Spike Factory Tower, only one image, which is the 0-0-0.
Unused Wizard Upgrade Icons
Unused (possibly used and replaced later?) Upgrade Icons for the Wizard Monkey
Fortified Bloons
This needs some investigation. Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page. Specifically: These bloons were functional at one point, but were removed in a later update. When were they removed? |

Camo Regrow Fortified |
Fortified variants used to exist for every Bloon type in the game, but only Lead, Ceramic, Golden, and MOAB-class Bloons can be fortified in the current version of the game. Fortified Purple Bloons could appear in freeplay mode at launch, but this was removed in version 2.0. These Bloons were made non-functional in an unknown version, and their graphics were removed in version 24.0.
Shielded Bloon
This overlay texture was added to the game's files in version 24.0, but was never used. It may have been intended as an ability of the Golden Bloon, possibly as a nod to Bloons Super Monkey 2 where it was always protected by a shield.
A very similar graphic would later be used for the Shielded Bloons in Bloons Pop!.
Early Churchill Texture
Early | Final |
---|---|
Early textures for Captain Churchill. These textures are less polished than the final textures, and they bear a striking resemblance to his appearance in an early render. These textures don't fit Churchill's model or UVs in the final game, which indicates that Churchill also had a different model at one point.
Early Crate Textures
The Support Chinook's texture map contains placeholder textures for crates. The cash crate texture uses the icon for NK Coins, the currency formerly used on Ninja Kiwi's website, while the lives crate texture reuses a heart icon from BTD5.
Reference Images in Textures
Supply Drop Crate Concept Art
There are early supply drop crates found in the Sniper Monkey's texture map in a Bloons TD 6 prototype, which are rougher than the final. Interestingly, there features what seems to be the Sniper Monkey's concept art! Unfortunately, it is covered up and low quality. From what little can be seen, the crates in the concept art are identical to the early crates, the snipers the upgrades use are below them, and an Operation: Dart Storm is above to the left, deploying the supply crate. There is also slight design changes of the guns; the gun for Even Faster Firing has a different design, having only one orange stripe instead of 2.
Super Monky Bat
The Super Monkey Bat's texture features a very small Super Monkey used for reference, which also features fake transperency, likely from being pasted in incorrectly.
Early Dartling Gunner Textures
An assortment of projectile textures and visual effects that were originally intended for the Dartling Gunner. These were added to the game's files in version 9.0, but were removed in version 12.0. The Dartling Gunner was later released in version 22.0, but the projectile textures it now uses are completely different, leaving these early designs unused.
Rocket
This weird-looking texture for a rocket projectile has three duplicates. Most likely a placeholder texture, given its ubiquity. Removed in version 24.0.
Bullet
The same graphic as the above, but grayscale and with the bottom half cut off for some reason. Also removed in version 24.0.
Early Monkey Ace Projectiles
A number of early, strange-looking textures for the Monkey Ace's projectiles.
Blue Shuriken
A blue shuriken. It seems that the Ninja Monkey would have used this when upgraded to Seeking Shurikens, rather than using the regular shuriken textures, as it does in the final. Similarly, a second texture was supposed to be used for having both Seeking Shurikens and Sharper Shurikens at the same time, but is also unused and, oddly, is completely identical to the blue shuriken. Both were removed in version 24.0.
