Fish Bone Glitch

Normally, the fishbone item is a debuff, and is the only "powerup" in the game that removes health from the player. However, if the player allows themselves to get the lowest possible amount of health without dying (i.e. getting the health bar to be one pixel wide), then collects a fishbone, Garfield's health will be set to its maximum possible value. This is easiest to do at the beginning of Sunday; simply jump over the first mouse, then hold right until the fishbone appears at your feet. A blue flea will appear, so start holding right again as it hits you and it will take almost all of your health before going offscreen. Then all you have to do is collect the fishbone. Make sure that after the blue flea hits you the first time, you keep holding right until it disappears offscreen, otherwise the flea will pass through you and won't deal enough damage to set up the glitch.

This setup is incredibly difficult to perform, and will likely take many attempts if you are attempting to replicate it. Strangely, it seems to be easier to perform in the prototype versions of the game, as holding right while getting hit by the flea will cause Garfield to get "caught" on the flea much more reliably. In the final game, it is much more common for the flea to simply pass through Garfield while he is suffering from the flea's attack.

If your health bar is more than one pixel wide, the fishbone will perform what is likely the intended behaviour: it will remove some of your health, or kill you if your health is low enough. The full health restore only occurs if the health bar is exactly one pixel wide when the fishbone is collected, further indicating that it is not intended behaviour.

This is likely due to some sort of underflow error, although it is the only example of such an error in the entire game. It is worth noting that getting full health, while difficult, is possible through other means, and unlike similar errors in other games, the fishbone glitch does not allow the player's health to exceed the normally obtainable maximum value.
