Big the Cat Crash

If Big falls into a kill plane as he's casting his lure, the game will crash. This was never fixed in any of the later ports.

Opponent Sonic warp in Sky Deck

The cannon at the beginning of Sky Deck resets to its initial state if it is respawned from the player moving far enough away from it and back. If they touch it again, its animation repeats. If this is done while playing as Tails, the opponent Sonic will rapidly progress to the end of the stage and cause it to become unbeatable without restarting.

The reason this happens is due to the cannon conflicting with the opponent Sonic's respawn mechanic. If he moves too far away from his intended position (such as falling into a pit) the game respawns him a few steps ahead of where he was before to avoid him making the same error and getting stuck. The cannon teleports both players to it on every frame - thus, thinking Sonic fell off the stage, the game teleports him to where it thinks he should be.

This repeats every frame until the cannon fires, putting him in progressively further spots until he's next to the capsule at which point he only needs to wait for the platform to spawn.
