Trumpet Pickup Glitch?

I think I saw a video years ago, that showcased how the gymnast trampet could be picked up shortly after bouncing off of it, allowing it to be carried outside the cave it's found in. I can't find this video on YT anymore and I'm not sure if I rembember it correctly anyway; I couldn't get this to happen myself, but it might require some precise timing - hard to tell. By the looks of it, it was probably supposed to be done on the Blue revision.

What I could find is that it's possible to place items mid-air when jumping the trampet, which I'm not sure it's intended. An incorrect sound effect will play sometimes for some reason, which is interesting.

Also of note is that the trampet seems to be functional inside the cave, and cannot be interacted with (possibly) anywhere else. I wonder if this was intentional to prevent any sequence skips (for example, grabbing the pickaxe without completing Dizzy Down the Rapids minigame?). ~y (talk) 16:22, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Huh, I must have gotten some false memories of using the trampette or seeing it used outside the cave, because you're right: No matter how I cheat to get it out of there, it stops working in the rest of the world. I've never been able to grab the trampette while bouncing, but I did confirm one trick I saw in a video long ago, where the stutter-bounce you get from jumping from in front of the trampette produces unusual bounce heights if you stagger your A-button presses in certain ways. (I'll have to remember to mention the stutter-bounce in the revisional differences, since that seems to have been removed in the second version.) So instead of jumping down from the entry platform to land on the trampette, you could potentially bounce directly from the trampette on the floor to the outside if you happen to press Right just as you get the extra-high bounce from it. I don't believe you can carry the trampette onto the platform in the Blue version, but if you cheat to get it there, getting the super-bounce to happen can send Dizzy straight up high enough to land on the bridge built from the kit, which might be what we're remembering. One time I edited Dizzy's vertical speed too high and he flew through the top of the graveyard and appeared in the left wall of the underwater area of the bay! Strange connections, huh? --Bag of Magic Food (talk) 20:43, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
...And just an hour after I typed that, I realized that you could get Dizzy killed while carrying the trampette, and he'll respawn with it under the entrance, making that "bounce onto the bridge" thing totally achievable in normal play of the first version. Whoops. --Bag of Magic Food (talk) 22:11, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
That extra high trampette jump is super interesting! Now that you say it, this might very likely be what I've seen in a video, I might have misremembered it a bit. Speaking of hacking items... I've noticed that when I hacked the trampet before entering the cave, it didn't spawn when I got there. I guess the game can only keep track of one instance of each item. That finally explains to me why there are duplicates of the rocks and dragon eggs present in the game data. ~y (talk) 16:12, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
