Chameleon 24
Chameleon 24 |
---|
Platform:
Arcade (NES-based hardware) This game has unused code. |
The Chameleon 24 is basically a bootleg take on the PlayChoice-10, retaining the annoying "pay for time" system but with 24 non-changeable Famicom titles to choose from.
Unused Games
The Chameleon 24 seems to just be a hacked-up version of a common "64-in-1" Famicom multicart, originally released in the early 90s. Almost all of the games from that multicart are still intact in the code - making over half of the games present in the PCB's data unused. The known unused games include:
- 4 Nin Uchi Mahjong
- 1942
- Antarctic Adventure
- Baseball
- Bomberman
- City Connection
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Donkey Kong 3
- Excitebike
- F-1 Race
- Golf
- Gomoku Narabe
- Ice Climber
- Karateka
- Kinnikuman: Muscle Tag Match
- Lode Runner
- Lunar Ball
- Mahjong
- Mappy
- Mario Bros.
- Ninja Jajamaru-kun
- Ninja-kun - Majou no Bouken
- Popeye
- Road Fighter
- Sky Destroyer
- Tetris (Tengen)
Despite most of the games being untouched, a handful of the 64-in-1's contents were overwritten by the new menu (e.g. Circus Charlie's CHR data). Also of note is that the Chameleon 24 uses some "hacked" duplicated games from the 64-in-1, with games like Galaxian using what is labeled as "Super Galaxian" in the 64-in-1, hacked to have faster bullets.
Unused Graphics
There is a Korean menu font at the very end of the CHR data. This is not present in the 64-in-1, and was presumably created for a Korean-language release of the Chameleon 24. There does not seem to be a way to enable a Korean menu in-game.
Unused Text
The 64-in-1's original menu text is present, starting at address $0955CC:
