Crash: Mind Over Mutant (PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable)
Crash: Mind over Mutant |
---|
Also known as: Crash: Génération Mutant (FR)
|
Crash: Mind Over Mutant is the sequel to Crash of the Titans, with open-world environments.
This game, like its predecessor and Crash Tag Team Racing, was based on The Simpsons: Hit & Run's engine, so the tools to mod that game work with this game.

Platform Differences
The PSP version contains a pre-rendered version of an in-game cutscene, L9_r1_parafox_establish.pmf, featuring much more expressive animation on Crash and subtle differences including Aku Aku's expression and slightly different scenery.

Unused Cinematic
The PSP version contains two pre-rendered cutscenes, one of them unused. It depicts one of Space Head's main area's buttons without objects and some textures being displayed wrong.

Unused Multiplayer Mode
The PSP version was going to have a Player vs. Player multiplayer mode, just like the PSP version of Crash of the Titans. The mode was ultimately scrapped, but text explaining the mode remains in the game's files:

Unused Music
The DEFAULT.RCF cement file contains four themes which go unused, and which are also present in the game's predecessor with the same filenames.
crash_test_track01
A 30-second theme with very whimsical and Crash-esque instruments. The name indicates it was a testing placeholder of some sort, and it may be a leftover from another one of Radical's games.
crash_test_track02
Very similar to the above track, with more simple and catchy instruments. As the name states, it's another temporary theme.
crash_test_track03
A shorter jingle with funky, disco-themed instruments. You know where this is going.
tempmusic1
Different from the three themes documented above in that it's not merely twice as long and located in a different file directory (crash_temp_sounds, as opposed to sounds), but anybody familiar with the series will notice it's a jungle-themed remix of the traditional Crash Bandicoot theme, synonymous with the series since it was first used in Warped!
Unfortunately, the filename makes it clear that it was never intended to be anything more than a placeholder theme, rendering this iconic piece of Bandicoot paraphernalia unused in this game.
Unused NPC
Villagers:RipperRoo obj:RipperRoo L1_R1RipperRoo1 L3_R5_RipperRooLocator1
Coding for an unused Ripper Roo villager exists in the game's files. He was going to appear near the start of the game in Wumpa Village and in the Ice Prison Uka Bone area.

Free Ratcicle Hero Free Sludge Hero Find and free the Ratcicle Hero
Unused mission names and descriptions for the Hero rescues.
Some kind of dialogue placeholders also exist. Their text is written in all-caps, while most other text is case-sensitive:
