Some sort of "upgrade" to Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix, which introduced to the arcades several new licenses (which also include the Korean licenses from 3rd Mix Ver.Korea), and Konami originals from the home release, 2nd Remix.

Unused Data

Present in the game's disc are full graphical and stepchart data for the scrapped song, TOTAL RECALL, by ULTIMATE HEIGHTS.

Below is a download containing the stepchart data, converted to be playable in Stepmania. As no music data exists, a custom crop is used. The difficulty ratings are custom as well.

Placeholders

The small placeholder banner and CDs from the original 3rdMix still appear in GAME.DAT.

Unused CD Titles

CD title graphics for the albums Dancemania SPEED 4 and Dancemania WINTERS 2 are found in GAME.DAT. No songs from these albums appear in this game, so they go unused. (Several songs from Dancemania SPEED 4 later appeared in 4thMix, however.)

Early 4thMix leftovers

Background animation graphics from what seems to be an early version of Dance Dance Revolution 4thMix can be found in GAME.DAT and CARD.DAT, the game's main resource files, suggesting that 4thMix and 3rdMix PLUS were being developed at the same time. The variants seen in CARD.DAT seem to be earlier than the ones in GAME.DAT.

CARD.DAT / GAME.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga1EARLY.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga1FINAL.png
  • In this texture sheet, graphics of what seems to be snails were changed to eyeless people.
CARD.DAT / GAME.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga2EARLY.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga2FINAL.png
  • Graphics of a square window and of a creature silhouette over a white background, present in the early renditions, are absent from the final, being replaced with several shapes used in color palette-changing effects.
CARD.DAT GAME.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga3EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga3EARLY.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga3FINAL.png
  • Between the CARD.DAT and GAME.DAT renditions of this graphic, many of the effects seen in the middle and bottom rows were completely redone. Most changes in the bottom row were presumably made do reduce eyestrain.
  • Between the GAME.DAT and the Final renditions, the elipsis and star graphics in the middle row were replaced with a simple glow. The rightmost graphic in this same row was also reverted to its original CARD.DAT rendition.
CARD.DAT GAME.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga4EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga4EARLY.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga4FINAL.png
  • The glow graphics present in this graphics were completely changed between all three variants of this texture.
CARD.DAT / GAME.DAT Final

CARD.DAT GAME.DAT / Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga6EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga6FINAL.png
  • It seems the laser beams in this graphic were originally much larger and "broken".
CARD.DAT GAME.DAT / Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga7EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga7FINAL.png
  • This graphic, which displays a blurred version of a different background, was replaced with a simple gradient during development.
CARD.DAT GAME.DAT / Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga8EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga8FINAL.png
  • The graphics for a scrolling heart animation, seen in this texture, were completely changed. The crown graphics were not changed, however.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga9EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga9FINAL.png
  • Several sprites were repositioned.
  • A fish texture, present in the CARD.DAT rendition, was changed to a tribal man during development.

  • Several of the gradient graphics in the top and bottom rows were changed.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga11EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga11FINAL.png
  • The graphic on the bottom left, which originally featured a set of horizontal gradients, was changed to a set of vertical gradients.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga12EARLIER.png
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga12FINAL.png
  • Many of the sprites, which were originally in black and white, were colored.
  • The "solid flower", "solid tear" and the black variations of the bird, fish and flower graphics were replaced with graphics of a star, a cracking egg and a second frame for the bird.
  • The "metallic tear" graphic was originally sideways, being slightly tilted during development.
  • The coloring of several tiles in the bottom rows was slightly changed.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga13EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga13FINAL.png
  • The second animation sprites in the texture, which feature a drawing of a man, was completely changed during development.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga14EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga14FINAL.png
  • The original rendition of this graphic had the word "interview" slightly mispelled as "inteview".
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga15EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga15FINAL.png
  • During early in development, this graphic had a grid over it, which was later removed.
CARD.DAT Final
DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga16EARLIER.png DDR3rdPLUS-4thbga16FINAL.png
  • Two of the frames of the "FLOW" animation sprites (two top rows) were originally in black and white.
  • A graphic of a stalking man was changed to one of a woman.
  • Many of the sprites seen in the two bottom rows were originally a lot... crustier, and without the blue tonality the final version uses.
