So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Hmmm...
To do:
There's a lot of unused content for this game, that needs to be covered. The Def Jam Wrestling Wiki mostly covers most of the unused content, so check it out and add the stuff here.
  • Unused Graphics
  • Unused Sounds
  • Demo Leftovers
  • Def Jam: Vendetta Leftovers
  • Console differences
  • Some oddities
    • One of the cutscenes in the game (that one where Skull will punch you if you cheat on your girl) has Blaze in a T-Pose. Capture a screenshot of it.

Def Jam: Fight for NY is the second game in the Def Jam fighting game franchise, in which this time you get to create your own character to fight other rappers.

Unused Stages

Hmmm...
To do:
Better pictures of these

There are several unused stages found in the game files.

Crow's Alley Def Jam Interior

Both Crow's Alley and Def Jam Interior, used in some cutscenes of the story mode, have data for being usable as a stage in the game, meaning they were likely planned to be used as the setting for fights.

Djffny thelimitafterhours.jpg

The stage The Limit has an unused variation known as The Limit (Afterhours), lacking the various people observing the fight.

Placeholder images for the unused stages and obvious Alpha versions of stages Terminal Offload, The Limit Afterhours, Red Hook Tire Afterhours, Subway, Club DTP, Babylon, Chopshop, and Red room.

Placeholder link for the Def Jam: Fight for NY Demo Blazins for all characters via debug menu. To be moved whenever the Demo gets its own page. Characters like Flava Flav and Crazy Legs for example have T-Pose Blazins that do not work and Bonrcrusher's Blazin is in a buggy state.

Console Differences

  • The game's intro has Sticky and Blaze play the game with each system's corresponding controllers.
  • The graphics quality on the Xbox version is much higher than the PS2 version, while the GameCube version is in a lower resolution.
  • The GameCube version only has 1 voice choice, due to Mini-Disc size limitations.

Oddities

In-Game

Bo's Mouth

Bo's mouth is hidden with his bandana, in which results in it being obscured. However with the use of Dolphin's texture replacement feature, it is possible to replace Bo's body texture with the bandana part removed, resulting in his mouth to be seen. Interestingly his mouth is even lip-synced to his voice lines, despite his mouth being never seen normally in-game.

Keeping D-Mob's chain

If you skip the story cutscene before the battle with Redman, you will skip the sequence where Method Man takes D-Mob's chain away from your character, thereby allowing you to keep it on during the match.

Cutscenes

Glass bullet hole misplacement

One glass bullet hole is misplaced near the wall in Crow's Office during the cutscene before you fight Crow as the final boss.

T-posing Method Man

In the cutscene where your character gets punched in the face by Skull after you cheat on your previous girl, Method Man is seen T-posing in the transition where Skull punches the player's character.
