Music

Unused

STRM_BGM_TEST_03

Contains Born This Way by Lady Gaga, used for testing audio streams.

STRM_BGM_BATTLESUPERIOR

A direct rip of the track used when Gym Leaders in Black and White send out their final Pokemon. This track is present but unused in r8447 (April 4th, 2012), is replaced with silence in the r12690 (June 26th, 2012), and removed r21981 (October 30th, 2012).

STRM_BGM_CAFE

As of r22852 (November 8th, 2012), the cafe was meant to have it's own unique bgm. It didn't get very far however, as it only used the Pokemon Center as a placeholder, and it was removed a day later in r22960 (November 9th, 2012).

Critical Health

SVN Revision Audio Date Filename Comment

2012/04/04 STRM_BGM_BATTLEPINCH01.bcstm A direct rip of the Critical Health theme from Black and White.

2012/04/26 STRM_BGM_BATTLEPINCH_01.bcstm A remix of the Critical Health theme from Black and White. It's properly implemented as well. It was removed in r22853 (November 8th, 2012).

Black & White Wild Battle Remix

A remix of Black and White's Wild Battle theme. This is used as early as the June 2011 build of the game, and is used as placeholders for several BGMs in other builds.

Black & White Route 6 Remix

A remix of Black and White's Route 6 theme, which is only present (though unused) in the June 2011 build.

STRM_BGM_VS_LEGEND_X/STRM_BGM_VS_LEGEND_Y/STRM_BGM_VS_LEGEND_Z

These 3 bgms only have placeholders, but it does show that Xerneas/Yveltal/Zygarde were meant to have their own themes rather than using the same one.

STRM_BGM_VS_MOVEPOKE

Uses a placeholder. While this may be a leftover from Black and White due to the nearly identical names between the two games (aside from the addition of the "STRM" part), a properly battleable legendary moving around the region may have been considered at some point.

STRM_BGM_VS_SETPOKE

Uses a placeholder. Most likely just the original name for SPECIAL_01, as the build it was in, May 25th, 2012, didn't have that bgm yet.

STRM_BGM_VS_SPECIAL_02

Uses a placeholder. In the xy_sound svn, earlier versions of Pokemon_XY_BGMList.xls says it was "戦闘!三銃士ポケモン(4セット)" ("Battle! Musketeers Pokémon (4 sets)"), but this is likely a BW leftover, referring to Cobalion/Virizion/Terrakion/Keldeo. Later versions, it was changed to "戦闘!AZ" ("Battle! AZ"). A battle with AZ was probably considered, but different from when he was Team Flare's boss in early concepts. STRM_BGM_WIN6 would of been used as the win theme for his battle. STRM_BGM_VS_SPECIAL_02 (the internal name) was eventually used in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for Battle! Regirock/Regice/Registeel.

STRM_BGM_VS_SUBWAY_TRAINER

Uses a placeholder. This was the Subway Trainer bgm from Black and White, but the name is likely a placeholder. Later it became BH_TRAINER, and then in the final TRAINER_PSS.

STRM_BGM_VS_TSUYOPOKE

Uses a placeholder. This was the bgm in Black and White for Strong Wild Pokemon. This bgm however did stay even in the January 22nd, 2013 build, which does still use it's same placeholder. However in xy_sound.bcsar (the game's sound archive), it's set to play the normal wild battle theme. If changing the entry to play a different bgm in the bcsar, the bgm will play properly in Ambush Battles as of the January 22nd, 2013 build. This shows that the bgm was meant for Ambush Battles. It was removed entirely in r30837 (January 25th, 2013), 3 days after this build.

STRM_BGM_T_06 & STRM_BGM_T_07

Music originally intended for Couriway Town and Ambrette Town, respectively. In the final game, those towns use the same music as Aquacorde Town and Camphrier Town, respectively.

STRM_BGM_WIN6

Named ○○に勝利! (Victory Against ○○), it was never used in the games, and it was cut very early.

Those three Pokémon can't be battled in the final games, instead, they were distributed through events.

Sound Effects

Kanto Unique Cries

Among the earliest sound effects in xy_sound/trunk/pv_wav/xy, there are some completely original cries intended. They aren't based on the original chiptune cries, but only a few Pokémon got them. They were eventually replaced with earlier versions of the final cries, remixing the original chiptune cries.

Those sound much more natural instead of digital, and have a similar direction to the cries made for the new Pokémon introduced in X & Y.

Early Cries

Hmmm...
To do:
Generation II to IV

Since new cries were created for all the Pokemon from Gens 1-5, it's no surprise there's early versions of some. Interestingly, some of these early cries would get used in Pokémon GO. In addition to this, all of the original cries are present as well, named VOICE_2D_PVXXX (X = Pokemon ID). They were most likely used for referencing the new cries. These early cries are mostly in the May 25th, 2012 build.
