Intro Storyboard

At some point after the game was released and already a hit, HAL Laboratory updated their website to include 10 storyboard images of the game's intro that were handmade by the team during the game's development.
Unfortunately, panels 1, 7, and 10 are missing from the Internet Archive's captures of HAL's website.
Panel 2 - The first part of the intro showing Master Hand taking Mario from the toy box and rearranging the desk. Interestingly, Master Hand is shown as a left hand rather than a right hand like in the final game.
Panel 3 - The transition to the arena with Mario coming to life. Master Hand is once again shown as a left hand.
Panel 4 - Mario jumping up, and highlighting the original 8 characters in the game.
Panel 5 - The title card for each character and a short sequence of them doing something. In this case, it's Mario running. Kirby appears flying on a Warp Star, something he doesn't do in the final intro.
Panel 6 - The part after all characters are introduced where they're running followed by a big explosion. The last frame shows Link on a hill overlooking a castle while playing his ocarina, but in the final there's only a dark sky in the distance and no castle.
Panel 8 - The first frame is showing Fox's sequence in this part of the intro. The second and third frames depict the showdown between Kirby and Mario.
Panel 9 - All fighters clash together. The four secret characters are depicted on the second frame. The third frame outlines the order and directions the Smash logo is split on the final part.
