Hmmm...
To do:
There's definitely more to talk about than this. Loads of unused stuff can be lurking in the game files.

Initially a spin-off in the Colin McRae Rally series turned into a beast of its own. Featuring Travis Pastrana from the Race of Champions series and Christian, your fellow co-driver.

Unused Audio

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Add translations from other languages
  • There's a ton of commented lines in speech.xml. Making a seperate subpage just for this extra narration is recommended.

Greeting Lines

These are lines that would play when you bootup the game. There's 5 of them with 2 of them being used and the rest being here, using early names for the game. These lines were also translated into other languages.

Demo Leftovers

Hmmm...
To do:
How many of these are actually used in the demo?

Judging by these sounds, the demo of the game was gonna be a lot more than just 3 races in a few disciplines. Some of these are used in the demo, but they still count as unused content due to them being left in the final game. Ones that aren't commented off in speech.xml are indicated with a star. (*)

Version Differences

Following McRae's unfortunate death on September 15, 2007, Codemasters had to disassociate the DiRT franchise from McRae's name. This led to every subsequent release of the game simply being renamed to DiRT and every game after DiRT 2 not having Colin McRae's name in the title. Before this though, America already had the game be called that name.

The only major differences are the aforementioned different branding and Travis' narration being changed to accommodate the different title. The car select explanations for the 1995 Subaru Impreza, Colin McRae MK. 2 Escort and the Nissan Pickup Dakar are different, either cutting Travis' yapping about Colin or referring to Colin as a rally champion (which he was.)
