Developer: Konami This game has a hidden developer message. |
Konami's obscure Japan-only take on The Legend of Zelda. It's as cryptic and confusing as you'd expect.

Secret Passwords
Konami Newspaper
Enter the following password:
かみなる めよりつ かわれし ひかりの うろこも つものし めいはた しこのち にねむる
Translation:
Here lies the emmisary of the god, Narume, holder of the shining scale, their quest fulfilled.
Alternatively, use the Game Genie codes XTEXEAES+XTEXOEAE and enter any password. A "Konami newspaper" with some news about the defeat of the Chrome Dragon (the game's main antagonist) will appear.
Konami Newspaper NEWS FLASH Chrome Dragon destroyed!
Debug Password
The following password consists of the name of the game's publisher, followed by what seems to be the surnames of the development team (in order: "Konami, Akamatsu, Mishina, Matsuoka, Iwasa, Yamashita, Murata, Kawanishi, Koike, Kinoshita"):
こなみあ かまつみ しなまつ おかいわ さやまし たむらた かわにし こいけき のした
This password cannot be registered at first unless you fill the final space with any random character. After getting the error message, erase the last character and enter the password again to successfully activate it. Alternatively, you can use the Game Genie codes XTNXGYES+XTNXINAE and then enter any password.
You will start on the fifth floor of Maten Palace, the final stage, with maximum experience points, all items and weapons, and invulnerability (actually, it completely disables all collisions for the player character; you can't even open any chests). Enter the door on the right to face the final boss.
Secret Message
While on the "The End" screen, press Up + A + B on the second controller. A screen titled "The God Narume's Prophecy" will appear.
Prophecy of the God, Narume If the scroll is stolen, and peace and tranquility broken, the GOLD DRAGON will awaken once more. Here lies the emmisary of the god, Narume, holder of the shining scale, their quest fulfilled.
The second part of the message is the secret password for the "Konami newspaper" screen.
More Secrets
Enter the "The God Narume's Prophecy" screen cheat. Then, while at this screen, enter one of the following additional combinations to get more additional effects and messages.
Repeat Ending Animation 1
On the first controller press Down + A + B. This will return you to the beginning of the ending animation, but the screen won't be updated and the animation sequence will play on the "Narume's" message screen. You may enter the same "Narume's" cheat to return back to the secret message screen to try more cheats.
Repeat Ending Animation 2
If you press A + B + Select on the first controller instead, a message (あいことばは。。。。 ひみつが あるかも) will appear. Press A to return to the ending sequence starting from the dragon scene.
The password.... might have a secret.
More Secret Messages
If you press A (×3), B (×9), A (×6), B (×9) on the first controller, the bottom message will disappear. Now press A + Select to reveal the first line (きみの しあわせを しんじて), then press Select to reveal the next (ぼくは きみのまえから さります), and finally press Select one more time to reveal the last line (しあわせに まこ、、のぶちゃんより).
I trust you'll be happy, so I'll leave you be. Wishing you the best, Mako. From Nobu-chan
Unused Ending Screen
To do: Restore the picture. |
A whole CHR bank contains tiles for an unused ending screen. It even has packed tilemap data in the game's resources, but unfortunately, this tilemap isn't fit for this CHR bank, as it uses a different tile layout. Obviously, there was a message saying "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING. SEE YOU AGAIN." and some parts of this tilemap are empty, because it is either unfinished or there were supposed to be sprites for increasing the picture color depth.
