This is a sub-page of Gran Turismo 6.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Verify if the Alfa Romeo VGT is actually in 1.10 database as claimed here.
  • There is "rm_bmw_vision_gt_14_nur24_a" in the PARTS_PRICE table of the in-game database (which also gets carried over to GT Sport) that would have corresponded to a vehicle named "bmw_vision_gt_14_nur24", but what the entry there mean? The prices on them are set to zero, by the way.

As with the game's predecessor, there is quite the number of vehicles that were only made available for a limited time, not used at all, or weren't even implemented.

Gran Turismo Lunar Roving Vehicle LRV-001

GT6 lunar roving vehicle 71 00.png

While not unused or technically hidden, this vehicle was only used for its own Special Event, Lunar Exploration. If one were to use modifications or hacking, the vehicle could be made playable outside of the event.

Only the vehicle's manufacturer, name, and year can be interpreted when playing the Special Event. However, if the vehicle is added to the player's Garage, more information can be seen about it. While the vehicle was actually made by The Boeing Company for NASA, its manufacturer in the game is Gran Turismo.

Statistics

Below is a list of the vehicle's complete statistics:

  • Manufacturer: Gran Turismo
  • Year: 1971
  • Performance Points: 172 PP
  • Max Power: 3 HP / 1,8000 RPM
  • Max Torque: 18.9 ft-lb / 1,000 RPM
  • Displacement: --- cc
  • Drivetrain: 4WD
  • Aspiration: EV
  • Length: 122.0 in.
  • Width: --- in.
  • Height: 44.8 in.
  • Weight: 210 kg
  • Front / Rear Weight Distribution: 50 : 50
  • Power-to-Weight Ratio: 70.00 kg/HP
  • Price: 1,000,000 Cr.

The vehicle comes equipped with "Comfort: Soft" tires by default, and is able to equip all tire types. It cannot be repainted, and no tuning parts or custom parts are available for it either.

Car Info (Description)

As the vehicle was never meant to be added to a player's Garage, or available to purchase from the Dealerships, this rather informative and educational mass of text is normally hidden:

The Apollo Project ran from 1961 to 1972, in which time they completed six successful missions to the moon. NASA needed something to cover a lot of ground on the moon in a short amount of time, so they prepared an automobile-like machine to accompany the astronauts into space. Thus, the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), was loaded onto Apollo 15, 16, and 17, and driven on the moon’s surface.

Because it had to be carried in the Lunar Lander before driving on the moon, the LRV is extremely light and compact. The chassis consists only of an aluminum floor panel reinforced with corrugated sheets, and its full length is approximately 122.0 inches. On top of the chassis are a pair of two-legged folding seats, a control unit, batteries, cameras and antennas. On Earth, the total weight of the LRV is 210 kg, but because that weight effectively reduced to 35 kg on the moon’s reduced gravity, the vehicle is light enough for an astronaut to lift on his own.

The LRV is propelled by in-wheel motors powered by a silver-zinc battery. Four-wheel drive and a four-wheel steering system allowed both front and rear wheels to turn and steer independently. The tires are metal wire mesh, with herring-bone-shaped aluminum plates wrapped around the tread surface for traction. The crew members would settle into the car, then operate the car using a T-shaped controller. The image of the LRV driving on the moon’s surface has been recorded on historic film footage.

With the cancellation of Apollo 18 and later flights, the role of the LRV ended after three missions. But this is a truly historic vehicle-one that was driven on a celestial body other than Earth for the first and only time in human history.

The car also has its own "catch" (short description used in the Dealerships) that similarly goes unused:

The first car in human history that was driven on a celestial body other than Earth.

BMW M3 GT2 Base Model ‘11

GT6 m3 gt2 11 color 00.png

While this car is not unused, it is technically considered hidden...for a strange reason...

If the player were to go into Arcade Mode, select from the selection of courtesy cars, and then select and play as the BMW M3 GT (BMW Motorsport) ‘11 in any game mode, then the car would be added to the Dealerships. It is not exactly known why this is the case, but it is deliberately scripted to do so according to the game's script files for Arcade Mode. One doesn't even have to finish a complete race; the player could load up an Arcade Mode race while playing as the aforementioned car, quit the race, and head to the Dealerships to find the newly added car. The car is listed on the official list of featured cars, though. Performance and appearance wise, the car is based on the BMW M3 GT (BMW Motorsport) '11, but as a base model version it can be repainted and customized with personal driver numbers.

The car's appearance in the dealership can also be toggled from the game's Debug Settings.

BMW M4 Coupé Frozen Black Metallic

GT6 M4 14 sp color.png

Added in Version 1.05 of the game, this car was (officially meant to be) a prize car for all participants of an Asia-regional online competition:

The online competition in question was the "BMW Z4 Challenge", which was an online competition held in the form of a Seasonal Event that was exclusive to Asian players. In the competition, players drove a BMW Z4 GT3 '11 on the Fuji Speedway F course and competed for the best time. The qualification match of the competition opened on February 18, 2014, and was made available until March 11, 2014; the regional finals match, in which the top 100 players of each region then competed, opened on March 13, 2014 and ended on March 31, 2014. There were numerous grand prizes for the event, but all players who competed in the event received this car as a gift car just for participating.

(Source: gran-turismo.com (HK))

In what appears to have been a huge error, in Version 1.05 of the game, this car was made available for purchase in the Dealerships. This was due to the game's database having the flag enabled that makes the car appear in the Dealerships for purchase. However, the developers were very quick to respond to this error, as a hotfix was released to amend it, but this did not remove purchased models of this car in players' Garages. As the hotfix is no longer available due to Version 1.05 not being the latest version of the game, the car is legitimately obtainable in this manner. The user can delete the Game Data from the system, update the game to Version 1.05, start the game, and purchase the car. Do note that older versions are incompatible with save data that was written to on newer versions of the game, so if the player really wanted the car enough, they would have to start the game over with a new save file and perform the procedure above.

In terms of performance and appearance, the car is exactly identical to the BMW M4 Coupé down to being able to be fitted with the same tuning and custom parts; the sole difference is that it comes in the unique, unchangeable "Frozen Black Metallic" color, which cannot be obtained as a paint color item. There is some additional text at the bottom in the Car Info (description) that denotes this:

This is a limited edition car painted in a special color.

Otherwise, the car is considered hidden and rare outside of obtaining it via the unintended and (now expired) intended methods above, unless modifications or hacking is used.

GT Academy Cars

The 2014 and 2015 years of the GT Academy competition, in which the franchise is well-known for, were hosted in this game in the form of time-limited Special Events instead of standalone titles, like the previous two years. Each year came with its own set of four challenges, each using a variant of a Nissan car in the game. These variants were used exclusively for these now-expired Special Events and cannot be accessed outside of them unless modifications or hacking is used.

GT Academy 2014

Three variants were used for Rounds 1, 2, and 3 of the GT Academy 2014 competition respectively. All of these variants have GT Academy 2014 graphics and plates on them along with a Nismo graphic on the rear quarter panel, come in the default color of "Brilliant White Pearl (3P)", cannot be repainted, and cannot be fitted with tuning or custom parts. All of these cars also lack a value under their "Year" statistic, unlike their base models.

Despite not being able to be repainted, all of these cars have a total of 12 different colors in which they are available in. The color of the cars can be changed by editing the Dealer Color value. In numerical value order, these colors are:

  • Brilliant White Pearl (3P)
  • Ultimate Metal Silver (4M)
  • Dark Metal Gray (M)
  • Meteor Flake Black Pearl (2P)
  • Midnight Purple (P)
  • Vibrant Red (C)
  • Premium Passionate Orange (3P)
  • Premium Ultimate Yellow
  • Silica Breath Metallic
  • Millennium Jade (M)
  • Bay Side Blue (M)
  • Aurora Flare Blue Pearl (2P)

These variants are identical to the ones used in GT Academy 2013, apart from the graphics and plates reading "GT Academy 2013" there.

GT Academy 2015

Four variants were used for all four rounds of the "GT Academy 2015" competition. All of these variants feature "GT Academy 2015" graphics on them, usually the icon graphic of the competition applied to the sides, the hood, or the roof, replacing the car number if there is one present. Like on the "GT Academy 2014" variants above, they lack a value under their "Year" statistic as compared to their base models.

Nissan GT-R NISMO (GT Academy 2015)

GT6 gtr nismo 14 ac 15 00.png

The second car added in Version 1.18, this car is a variant of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 Nissan GT Academy Team RJN '13 and was used for Round 2 of the competition. Its statistics, performance and price are identical to its base model, and it also copies the Car Info (description) from it as well.

The base model of this car was used for Round 4 of "GT Academy 2014", while this variant was used for Round 2 of "GT Academy 2015". The sole difference is that this variant has "GT Academy 2015" icon graphics on the sides, hood, and roof of the car.

Nissan Z11SN Greaves Motorsport (GT Academy 2015)

GT6 zytek z11sn greaves 13 ac.png

The third car added in Version 1.18, this car is a variant of the Nissan Zytek Z11SN Greaves Motorsport ‘13, which was also added in this version, and was used for Round 3 of the competition. Its statistics, performance and price are identical to its base model, and it also copies the Car Info (description) from it as well.

While the base model of this variant was later made available for players to purchase in Version 1.20, the variant was exclusively used in Round 3 of the competition. The sole difference is that the variant has "GT Academy 2015" icon graphics on the sides, which replace the digital race numbers, and hood of the car.

Nissan GT-R LM NISMO (GT Academy 2015)

While the base model of this variant was given to players as a gift car to those who met the clearance conditions for the Round, and was also later made available for players to purchase in Version 1.20, the variant was exclusively used in Round 4 of the competition. The sole difference is that the variant has "GT Academy 2015" icon graphics on the sides, hood, and roof of the car.

Completely Unused Cars

There is quite the amount of cars in the game already, but there exists entries of even more cars in the game's database files. These cars are completely missing from the game, either due to licensing, being cut during development, or other reasons, and only their entries remain in the database files. Attempting to load any of these cars in the game via modifications or hacking will cause the game to crash and hard-lock the system.

Gran Turismo 5 Leftovers

As this game is a fork of its predecessor, it should be obvious that leftovers from it would be everywhere. As a matter of fact, the body codes for the cars below are the exact same as those for Gran Turismo 5.

In addition, all Standard versions of Premium cars intended for GTPSP import feature are still coded here.

There are a few interesting things of note:

  • The Jensen Interceptor MkIII '74 had truncated text in the original dump, so the text was added here (as checked with the game's actual database) for the sake of documentation.
(Source: FMecha)
  • The entries for the Nissan 370Z Tuned Car (GT Academy 2010) and the Nissan GT-R SpecV (GT Academy 2010) were originally two GT Academy cars that the player could obtain in Gran Turismo 5, but they are renamed in this game, denoted with the year they were featured.
  • There are three entries of the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 5G here, as there were originally three different variants of the same car present in Gran Turismo 5.
  • The entries for Bentley Speed 8 Race Car '03 and Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car '88 are their old Standard versions of the car from the previous game (internally named "exp_speed8_03_std" and "xjr9_race_88_std", respectively), noticeably also featuring their old names, as "Race Car" suffixes were removed from most returning racing cars.

Leftover Thumnbails

Thumbnails for some of the cars above are present inside the game's data files.

GT Academy 2013 Leftovers

Entries for all of the cars that were used in GT Academy 2013 are found here. These cars, excluding the Nissan 370Z Tuned Car (GT Academy 2013) which is nowhere to be seen in the final game, were reworked for GT Academy 2014 as noted above.

There are a few interesting things of note:

  • There exists an entry for the Nissan March 12SR (GT Academy Version) '07. It is unknown where the intended usage of this car would have originally been, but considering that its entry is placed right before the Nissan Silvia spec-R AERO (GT Academy Version) '02, perhaps this was meant to be the car used in Round 1 of GT Academy 2012?
  • Entries for the Nissan March 12SR (GT Academy Version) '07, and the Nissan Silvia spec-R AERO (GT Academy Version) '02 had truncated text in the original dump, so the text was added here (as checked with the game's actual database) for the sake of documentation.

Leftover Thumbnails

Thumbnails for these cars can still be found inside the game's data files, but not grouped with the rest of the other car thumbnails. Instead, these thumbnails are stored in a separate directory that appears to have other files related to prototype versions of the game.

Cut Cars

The car entries below never made an appearance in the game apart from their entries in the game's database files, either being cut due to development constraints, licensing issues, or other reasons.

Internal Name Label
_500_modial_pf_coupe_54 Ferrari 500 Mondial Pinin Farina Coupe CN.0422MD '54

x2014_jr_14_color Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Junior Color
rb_racing_kart_125_xx_color Gran Turismo Red Bull Racing Kart 125 Color

Some interesting things of note with these cut cars:

  • The Ferrari 500 Mondial Pinin Farina Coupe CN.0422MD '54 was the winner of the "Gran Turismo Award" at the "Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance" event, in which the creator of the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, selects a car that will be later featured in the franchise. This was the car that won said award in 2012, but never appeared in this game, apart from only its entry in the database files. It did eventually appear in Gran Turismo 7 nearly nine years after the release of this game.
  • It appears that there were additional base models planned for the Audi Sport quattro S1 Rally Car '86, the Audi R8 LMS - Team Oreca '10 and the Audi R18 TDI '11. These cars must have been dropped from inclusion into the game rather late into development, as thumbnails exist for these cars in the game's data files.
  • Variants of the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Junior and the Gran Turismo Red Bull Racing Kart 125 were planned, in which speculating by the entry names, would allow the player to paint them a custom color.

Cancelled/Car Show-Only Cars

Three entries were added for cars later in the game's lifespan through updates, but all of them would have their public, playable appearances pushed forward to Gran Turismo Sport instead, although all three appear to be playable at special builds for major car shows.

Notes pertaining to those cars:

  • Both Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo and Toyota S-FR '15 were playable on special builds of the game during each cars' presentation at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, respectively. The "tms2015" variant of the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo was also playable at Tokyo Motor Show.
  • The entry for NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo was presented in a special color named Fire Knight, a matte red; this version was the one ended up being used in Gran Turismo Sport. There, several changes were made to the car's color choices; in particular, paint chip data for it and Solar Yellow color can be found in the game's paint color table. The S-FR's yellow color is also registered there.

Miscellaneous

A special livery model commemorating the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo.

All 15th Anniversary edition cars feature this "catch" (short description) text on them; however, because they cannot be purchased from the dealerships (they are only available by purchasing the Anniversary Edition of the game) and catch text is only shown in the dealerships, this string is never shown.
