GuitarFreaks 4thMIX & drummania 3rdMIX introduced an Encore Stage system, available only when clearing the Extra Stage with a good enough rate. The song played in this new stage is DAY DREAM, still considered one of the hardest songs in their respective franchises.

Present in PCCARD1.DAT, the game's main graphical repository is... this picture titled "少数Staff" (a few staff), featuring human eyes with crudely drawn mouths. As you might expect, it's likely a placeholder staff roll graphic.

Unused Artist Tags

In PCCARD1.DAT, graphics for the songs' artists can be found, presumably to be displayed in the song selection screen, much like in drummania 2ndMIX. However, they don't display at all. While this data is common between GuitarFreaks 4thMix and drummania 3rdMIX, only the graphics belonging to songs available in GuitarFreaks will be displayed.

Song Selection Screen

Within the graphics of the song selection screen of drummania 3rdMIX are graphics for the then-scrapped song You'll be a man, along with a tag for the How To Play sequence. Curiously, You'll be a man's card graphic (the one with the BPM display) is an early version of the card graphic for the song I think about you, used in drummania 2ndMIX.

Unused Background Animation Graphics

The folder DATA6 is where the background animation sprites for the songs are stored. Inside it, there are also leftover files from previous games, and even including unused graphics not present in the files of earlier versions.

Regional Differences

drummania 3rdMIX was released in Asia under the name of PercussionFreaks 3rdMIX. This version translated the game's UI, along with several song titles, into English. A Korean version, based on the Asia release, was also published. Much like drummania/PercussionFreaks 2ndMIX, it contains a couple of differences when compared to the original Japanese version. Regarding the game's songlist, only new differences will be entered in this section.

Songlist

• The licensed songs Ai no shirushi, Dynamite, LIAR! LIAR! and Sakura no toki were changed to instrumental versions.

Background Animations

• A message in the background animations for the song NEWSPAPER, which advertised a contest to find a vocalist for the song, is absent.
