GuitarFreaks 8thMIX & drummania 7thMIX/Power-Up Version

This is a sub-page of GuitarFreaks 8thMIX & drummania 7thMIX.

The Power-Up Version of GuitarFreaks 8thMIX & DrumMania 7thMIX was, essentially, an upgraded revision of the original title, which includes several more songs, both old and new, as well as support for Konami's then-brand new e-AMUSEMENT service.

It is also more infamously known for introducing the "KONMAI" spelling error/inside joke.

Revisional Differences

General

• e-AMUSEMENT save card support was added. These could track the progress of players, including play counts and high scores.
• A puzzle-based unlock system was added. The condition to access it is to clear a round of songs while logged in.
• The animation of the "Caution" screen was shortened.
• The "failed" Game Over screen was removed. When failing a song with Event Mode turned off, the player is redirected to the Congratulations screen instead.

Songlist

• Six brand new songs were added: begin, BRAND NEW LADY, ROOPA, Star no koibito, Tamayura and Wasuremono. Prior to their addition, these songs had placeholder graphical data in the files of the original release.
• Additionally, 5 songs from previous games were also added: Heaven is a '57 metallic gray, ON OUR WAY, FIRE IN THE DARK, Orange Jet Stream and THREE WORMS.
• The BPM of the song Robinson is now displayed as 111.
• In the original drummania 7thMIX, Double Trouble had an issue in which the artist name was misspelled as "Thomas Howard Lictenstein". This issue is not present in GuitarFreaks 8thMIX, and the fixed design was eventually uniformized in Power-Up Version.

Unused Chart

One of the new songs to the upgrade, Tamayura, has an unused Bass Extreme chart in the GuitarFreaks data. It can be found inside file G0752.FCN in folder DATA1, labeled as "g0752ext_sb". It's important to note that this chart can only be found in this game - its data was removed from all future installments.
