In a hole in the ground, there lived a short little minifigur- I mean, Hobbit.

A LEGO game based on the first two movies in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy. There is a Battle of Five Armies character DLC pack available on Steam and both Microsoft and Sony platforms (although the game was temporarily removed from sale at the start of 2019), but Warner Bros confirmed that DLC related to the actual storyline of the third movie would not come to fruition, much to the dismay of fans.

Regional Differences

Carnival Dubstep

The English version of the "Carnival Dubstep" music contains voice clips from the movies, whereas the other languages only get the backing track. (The Brazilian, French, German, Mexican, and Spanish versions are identical).

Ditto for the Disco music. There is also an instrumental track, which is identical to the tracks for the foreign dubs.

"The Winds Forever Blow" (Shield of Song)

Interestingly, the inverse is true of the song that plays when the Shield of Song is equipped. A shame too, since the song seems to have been composed specifically for this game.

Placeholder Images

Presumably, these were used during development to test the inventory and treasure item menus.

"PLACEHOLDER_CORRECT_NXG.TEX", and "PLACEHOLDER_DECOY_NXG.TEX" are two textures found in GUI\TEXTURES\IB_PIECES.

Demo Leftovers

A bunch of logos and spash screens left over from the demo and Lego Batman 2, including versions of the logo for each language. Obviously, these are meant to be streched out to 16:9.

Wii U Leftovers

In the PC Steam release of the game are three files named found in GUI\LEGAL. Again, these would have been stretched out to 16:9.

Placeholder Cut-scene

In the game's files in the folder named "CUT" on the Steam release there is a folder named "PLACEHOLDERCUTSCENE" where in it contains one file "PLACEHOLDERCUTSCENE.sub".

Unused Levels

"VFX_TEST" goes unused, found in LEVELS\VFX\VFX_TEST. There are 4 other unused levels known as "EVENTSUBLEVELSAUTOTEST", "EVENTSUBLEVELSAUTOTEST2", "EVENTSUBLEVELSAUTOTEST3", and "EVENTSUBLEVELSAUTOTEST4".
