LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 3)/Unused .plan Files
This is a sub-page of LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 3).
Most items in the game have .plan files associated with them, which allow them to be added to the player's Popit via Prize Bubbles or similar. There are a number of objects and items that, while not necessarily unused themselves, never get added to the player's Popit through normal means, thus their .plan files go unused. Below is a list of various unused .plan files, their associated icons and language data (if any), as well as any notes regarding the items themselves.

Filename and Path | Popit Icon | Name | Description | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/gad_platform_sensor_switch.plan | DEV ONLY! Platform Sensor | Platform Sensor | A simple gadget that detects what system the game is running on; either PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4. Its Popit icon is the same as the one used by the Battery gadget. Its .plan was added in Game Update 1.09. | |
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/gad_switch_colourgate.plan | DEV ONLY! Colour Tweaker | Combines Red, Green and Blue Components to form a colour. | A gadget that can change an object's colour in real-time by combining three inputs that correspond to Red, Green and Blue colour values. Its .plan was added in Game Update 1.09. | |
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/gad_switch_filter.plan | DEV ONLY! Filter | Filter your outputs! | A maths tool that divides whatever signal it received by a percentage that can be set in its tweak menu. Its .plan was added in Game Update 1.09. | |
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/gad_hud_element.plan | DEV ONLY! Hud Element | Gadget that lets you make your own Heads Up Display. | A gadget that allowed stickers to be placed onto the Heads Up Display. Its .plan was added in Game Update 1.09, but since the gadget itself was dummied out in Game Update 1.08, it's effectively a duplicate of the Microchip gadget. | |
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/kit_magic_door.plan | DO NOT USE! Magic Door | Players can jump through any magic door and pop out of another that it has been wired up to. | An unused variation of the Worm Hole tool that uses the same model, sound effects and animations as this game's Level Link. Interestingly it doubles as a Checkpoint, but with only four lives built in. For some reason, the language data for this .plan is used on an unrelated sticker of the same name from LittleBigPlanet. Its .plan was added in Game Update 1.09. | |
gamedata/lbp3/common/palettes/music_credits_medley_music.plan | *DEV ONLY* 'Credits Medley' | by Various Artists | The music that plays while watching the credits in the Adventure Mode. The preview track that plays while highlighting it in the Tool Bag is the same as the one used for Mr Sandman. The .plan for this music object was added in Game Update 1.09. |
Gamekit Pieces
Present in gamedata/lbp3/gamekits are four folders containing several pre-made level motifs (a.k.a. Gamekits), which were likely intended to speed up level creation by allowing instant access to common set pieces that would otherwise have to be created manually.
fickle_mistress
The pieces in the fickle_mistress folder appear to have been created very early on in the game's development since they utilise functionality and assets that were either removed entirely or heavily altered for the retail release.

Contraption Challenge Parts
The Contraption Challenges have several items associated with them that are never given to the player. Most of these appear to be early versions of vehicle parts that are used in the actual levels, though a handful of parts were cut entirely. Even if they're hacked into the player's Popit, most of these will not appear in the Goodies Bag normally. The only way to use them is through a Popit Powerup that already has them enabled.
The Wheel Deal Car Pieces
Manglewood's Contraption Challenge has 15 unused vehicle parts. Most of them are early versions of used parts, but a couple were cut entirely. Some of these early items appear to recycle language data from their final counterparts, leading to some misnomers. Similar to the used pieces, these are set to be invisible in the normal Goodies Bag; even if they are hacked into the player's Popit, they cannot be accessed in Create Mode without a Popit Powerup that already has them enabled.
Ziggurat Boat Pieces
The Ziggurat was originally intended to have a Contraption Challenge centred around building boats. Though the level itself was removed from the game, the .plan files for the vehicle parts it would've used can still be found in gamedata/lbp3/blueprints/ziggurat/boat. Unlike the vehicle parts from The Wheel Deal and Joust In Time, these are set to be visible in the Goodies Bag by default and can be accessed without the use of a Popit Powerup.
Joust In Time Spaceship Pieces
Bunkum Lagoon's Contraption Challenge, Joust In Time, has a total of 22 unused vehicle parts associated with it. Most of these appear to be early versions of used parts or are duplicates of parts taken from other Contraption Challenges, though a handful have no equivalent in the finished level. Some of these unused pieces appear to recycle language data from their final counterparts, leading to some misnomers. Just like the unused vehicle parts associated with The Wheel Deal, these do not show up in the Goodies Bag normally, even when hacked into the player's Popit; accessing them requires a Popit Powerup that already has them enabled.
