Madagascar (Nintendo DS)

This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
Madagascar on Nintendo DS is a platformer that is based on the DreamWorks animated movie and not the country. It is essentially a beefed up port of the GBA version with updated visuals, sound, added touch screen controls/dual screen support and a couple of exclusive levels.
Unused Graphics
"L25_BossUpGBMap.bin", "L25_BossUpGBMeta.bin" and "L25_BossUpGBPallete.bin" are all files for the final level from the GBA version (intended for the top screen). The final boss differs between the two versions, with the DS version of the level having the player control Marty and Alex on both screens (as opposed to just Marty on one screen). Trying to load these files will result in the visuals for the final level corrupting.
Regional Differences
To do: All of the multiplayer files are still in the Japanese version despite the mode's removal. See if the multiplayer mode is still accessible/functional in the Japanese version and see if the multiplayer content is translated. |
- In every non-English translation, characters do not have a voice clip when the player switches characters, with a drum sound effect playing instead. Characters also do not have a victory quote when finishing a level.
- The credits cannot be accessed from the main menu in the Japanese version.
- Multiplayer was removed from the Japanese version.
