Early Shipshape Island
Early Shipshape Island | Final Shipshape Island |
---|---|
In Game/Resources/Object/Vista, there exists an early low-detail model of Shipshape Island. Examining the early and final low-detail models side-by-side, there are quite a few differences:
- The overall scale of the early model is much more exaggerated than the final model, with various objects like the cannon appearing much larger than it actually is.
- The cannon is missing a telescope at the top. Instead, there is a nest with three eggs on top of it.
- Checking out the starboard (right) side of the ship, the beach area in the early version had pink sand and coral, whereas the final version had regular sand and rocks in place of the coral.
- The secluded area past the beach, on the port (left) side, is completely missing. The hidden areas to the left and right of the beach are also not present.
- The river flows in a completely different direction in the early version. Rather than flowing towards the front of the ship, it flows down towards the beach. A bridge separates the central and back area of the ship towards the left, rather than the bridge being up north in the final version.
- The mountainous area towards the back of the ship is missing the waterfall in the early version. Instead, there is an arch formed by various rocks. At the top of the arch are some large flowers.
- In the early version, there is only one path towards the cannon. The player would have to go north (about where the bridge would have been in the final version) and head up a path along the port side of the ship that remains relatively unchanged compared to the final version.
- Beneath the path in the early version, there are three arches not present in the final version.
- Along the path, a large root of the Uni-Tree arches over the path.
- There is a defined platform just past the arch, which is not seen in the final game. It is unknown what this would have been for.
- The other path towards the cannon in the early version is instead replaced by a waterfall.
- The Uni-Tree's shape was slightly different in the early version.
- The Uni-Tree's roots grew mostly aboveground in the early version, whereas in the final version, the roots grew underground, and protrude out of several areas near the bottom of Shipshape Island.
- The bulb at the top of the Uni-Tree is missing.
Unused Islet
Located in Game\Resources\Field\Object is a small, simplistic island with sand and palm trees. The Kanji written on the center mountain reads "small island".
Wayaway Island Placeholder
In Game\Resources\Field\_Common_SeaArea_04\Vista, an unused placeholder for Wayaway island exists. This would be meant to be seen by the player from Shipshape Island when looking through the telescope or looking back towards the linked islands. However, since this island is never seen by the telescope (it is accessed only through a pipe), and it never gets linked (it was already an island to begin with before the game's events), this model would not be able to be seen by the player normally.
Various Unused Models
Default Map Cube
Found in Vermillion\Content is a cube model covered in a red, white, grey-blue and green grid texture. The filename for it is DefaultMap.umap, meaning it may be a leftover from the Unreal Engine.
Test Battle Background
In Game\Resources\Field\Terrain there's a white floor that has black, red, and blue lines. This was used to test battles and boss fights to make sure they're fully functional.
Unused & Early Objects (WhiteBox)
In Game\Resources exists a mysterious directory called WhiteBox, which is filled with a bunch of leftover material from what could be implied as a debug area or an early island. It contains early elements from various islands. There are a lot of objects in this directory.
