Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk (sometimes referred to as simply "Milk 2") is the sequel to Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk.

Most of the paths in this article are relative to the inside of game/archive.rpa, like most Ren'Py games.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Finish going through all of the "skybox"es. Some of the "eyebox"es (unused) don't match their "skybox" counterparts; same with the used "cg_mirror_gg" variants. Additionally, 9143203 changed many of them.
  • Look into the Switch port.

Unused Graphics

overlay_invert

Milk2 overlay invert.png

images/overlay_invert.png is a variant of the used dialogue box texture (images/overlay.png) with the background color and border color swapped.

transmask2

Milk2 transmask2 png.png

At images/transmask2.png is an image that is identical (except for different compression artifacts) to images/transmask2.webp, which is used.

cg_eyelash

Milk2 cg eyelash.png

In images/cg_eyelash/ are 4 frames of an animation that was going to be used for the "first death". They've been stitched into an animated PNG above, but the animation doesn't appear in thumbnails. Click here to see it animated.

The timings for it are in art.rpy: image cg_eyelash = Animation("cg_eyelash/1.png", 6, "cg_eyelash/2.png", 0.05, "cg_eyelash/3.png", 0.05, "cg_eyelash/4.png", 0.05).

A line with the content hide cg_eyelash is present in script.rpy, but it has no effect as the image is never shown.

This pre-release screenshot posted by the developer to Twitter shows the image being used in-game. The text in the screenshot translates to I wonder, if I tear out all my eyelashes, one after another, will my eyes stop itching...? and appears in the final game, but only the skybox is shown in the background during that part in the final.

Unused Music

At images/9.mp3 is the bad ending music from Milk 1.

audio/eyez.mp3 is a very short combination of the songs "choose" and "end". It is partially used in images/eyez.mkv which is in the "first death", but this goes on for longer allowing you to hear "end" at the end.

milk

In audio/milk/ is 129 MB of unused music (18% of the entire game!) from the OST.

Unused Sounds

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Are the first two sounds below from Ren'Py, or are they original?

audio/Button1.mp3 and audio/Button2.mp3 go unused.

audio/eyez.ogg is an incredibly unpleasant screeching noise.

audio/trans/2.ogg and audio/trans/3.ogg both sound similar to audio/trans/1.ogg, which is used.

audio/trans/Choices demo 1-001.ogg is an odd-sounding chime.

Miscellaneous

audio/lest/lest3.mp3.sfk, audio/magaz/treska.ogg.sfk (present since launch day), audio/milk/milk16.mp3.sfk, audio/milk/milk41.mp3.sfk, audio/milk/milk42.mp3.sfk, and audio/milk/milk45.mp3.sfk (added in 8064843) go unused. These are Sound Forge "peak audio" files.

Revisional Differences

Before 7960155 removed them, there were three unused fonts, all in the images folder: 111.ttf (PetscopWide Medium), 122.ttf (Retro Gaming), and 123.ttf (ItsAboutTimeBatt).

Removed Radio Audio

Before 8152241 removed them, there were three extra "songs" that could play on the radios at audio/radio/radio1/1.ogg, audio/radio/radio2/1.ogg, and audio/radio/radio3/6.ogg. They consist of backwards speech which has yet to be transcribed.

These tracks are also completely absent in the OST (not just skipped over, but like they never existed; e.g. radio1/2.ogg is called radio1_1.mp3 in the OST), which is weird because build 8152241 was released on February 5, 2022, about a month after the OST's release on January 8, so it seems like these tracks were always intended to be excluded from the OST.
