MiniCopter: Adventure Flight/Unused Models
This is a sub-page of MiniCopter: Adventure Flight.
While these models are present in all versions of the game, they can only be loaded properly in the Japanese version (except for a few mentioned exceptions). This is because the models are stored in the model format MDL0 v10, which only the Japanese version supports (the rest only support v11).
Unused Helicopter Models
Unused Color Variant Duplicates
In /PCopter/Model/Copter/HELICOPTER_FRAME_CODENAME for each helicopter, there is an unused color variant simply named HELICOPTER_FRAME_CODENAME.brres (all of the color variants have the string _ColorCodename at the end of the filename to represent each color. For example, in the case of the B44 Pronghorn, the unused model is named Nrm_01.brres, while its used red variant is Nrm_01_aka.brres).
In the Japanese version, all of these are byte-to-byte identical to one of their used color variants, depending on the helicopter frame:
Helicopter | The used model file the unused variant is identical to | Color |
---|---|---|
B44 Pronghorn | Nrm_01_aka.brres | Red |
XK-117 Rhinoceros | Nrm_02_aka.brres | Red |
RC135 Lynx | Nrm_03_aka.brres | Red |
MV107 Megamouth | Pwr_01_ao.brres | Blue |
HH-53E Hammerhead | Pwr_02_midori.brres | Green |
Sa-52 Sand Tiger | Pwr_03_ki.brres | Yellow |
GH-66 Golden Eagle | Spd_01_ki.brres | Yellow |
RC155 Red Kite | Spd_02_ao.brres | Blue |
GH-64 Grey Hawk | Spd_03_ao.brres | Blue |
In the international versions, the unused variants were left unconverted from the MDL0 v10 model format the Japanese version uses (so they can't be loaded in those versions).
The only exception to this, however, is the unused variant for the B44 Pronghorn helicopter, which was converted to MDL0 v11, and so it can actually be loaded properly.
The Param.txt file in each one of the directories where these model files can be found mentions this unused variant, with a comment that says モデルリソースパス (Model resource path).
HH-53E Hammerhead Test Model
Early | Final |
---|---|
The HH-53E Hammerhead helicopter has an early version of the red color variant named Pwr_02_test.brres in /PCopter/Model/Copter/Pwr_02, which is not referenced in its associated Param.txt file.
When loading the model in-game, the whole frame will be missing, leaving only the tires and rotor model. This is because the model groups related to these are disabled.
Aside of that only difference is that the early version has darker shading than the final version.
Unused Rotor Models
Rotor_01 | Rotor_02 |
---|---|
Two unused rotor models, named Rotor_01.brres and Rotor_02.brres respectively, exist in /PCopter/Model/Rotor/Rotor_01 and /PCopter/Model/Rotor/Rotor_02. These were seen in pre-release footage (some of which made it into the opening video of the game).
Curiously, the red stripes in the Rotor_02 will sometimes disappear and appear back while flying, as seen in the last screenshot in the right.
Unused Map Object Models
Heliport
__HeliPad.brres and _HeliPad.brres | Final |
---|---|
Two unused heliport models exist in /PCopter/Model/System/HeliPad, named __HeliPad.brres and _HeliPad.brres (the final version is simply named HeliPad.brres). Both have an earlier design, in which the base texture is a much darker shade of gray and it's missing one of the yellow rings seen in the final version. The borders also don't have the white/red squares in them.
__HeliPad.brres | _HeliPad.brres |
---|---|
The only difference between both unused models is that _HeliPad.brres is a bit taller than __HeliPad.brres. In fact, that model could be seen in pre-release footage.
The model file in __HeliPad.brres is named heri_pad_test.mdl0 (curiously enough, just like the final model), while the one in _HeliPad.brres is simply named heri_pad.mdl0.
Coin
Early (Japan) | Final (Japan) |
---|---|
Early (International) | Final (International) |
---|---|
An unused coin model exists in /PCopter/Model/System/Coin, named coin.brres. In the Japanese version, the model is pretty much identical to the final version of the silver coin, albeit notably larger and thinner (resembling its appearance as seen in the rest of the versions of the game).
Meanwhile, in the international releases, the unused model is identical to the final golden coin from the Japanese version, albeit with its model, animation and texture converted to the version formats the international versions support.
When loaded in-game, the coin won't spin and remains static, as its associated parameter file (in /PCopter/Model/System/Coin/Param.txt) is missing a couple of parameters that tell the game if its animation should loop or not, and how fast it should play (loop_mode and anim_rate respectively). Even so, it does have an animation, which looks the same as the one from the final version. Said parameters file is not referenced in /PCopter/ResList.txt either, so it cannot be placed as a unique object, instead needing to replace an existing object to be able to load it in-game.
Bottles
Pet_dustA | |
---|---|
Early | Final |
Pet_dustB | |
---|---|
Early | Final |
An early version of the plastic bottles objects seen in some of the Park's missions can be found in /PCopter/Model/System/Dust, named _Pet_dustA.brres and _Pet_dustB.brres respectively (the final versions are named the same, except without the underscore).
In both cases, the texture is quite different in the early version, showing a less detailed appearance.
Tray
An unused version of the tray object seen in the Hospital map can be found in /PCopter/Model/System/Hos, named _Tray.brres. It is identical to the final version, with the only difference being that the unused file has an additional SCN0 file that does not seem to affect the model's lighting at all.
Leftover Japanese Ring Model
In the international versions, the ring model as seen in the Japanese version can still be found in /PCopter/Model/System/Ring, named _Ring.brres. The model and animation were converted to the version formats that both international versions support, and its SCN0 file was removed.
Chocolate Bar
Early | Final |
---|---|
An early version of the chocolate bar object found in /PCopter/Model/System/Hotel, named _Miyage.brres. The only difference is found in the texture, which has a different picture.
Passport
Early | Final |
---|---|
An early version of the passport object found in /PCopter/Model/System/Hotel, named _Passport.brres. The only difference is found in the texture, which is slightly darker in the early version.
Towel and Guidebook
This early texture also has old designs for the towel and Guidebook objects respectively.
Early | Final |
---|---|
The towel had a completely different design, showing a more colorful pattern without the Seaside Hotel logo.
Early | Final |
---|---|
And the Guidebook also had a completely different cover as well.
Suitcase
Early | Final |
---|---|
Early | Final |
---|---|
An early version of the suitcase object found in /PCopter/Model/System/Hotel, named _Suitcase.brres. The only difference is found in the texture, which is slightly darker in the early version. In addition, the final texture added a couple of stickers in the front of the suitcase.
Bottom Burger Bun
Normal | Burnt |
---|---|
Bunz_B.brres in /PCopter/Model/System/BGShop (defined in "Bunz_B.txt" under the same directory) contains an unused model for the bottom burger bun used in the Hamburger Shop's fifth mission. It is codenamed BG_Bunz_B according to /PCopter/ResList.txt. In the final game, this model only appears alongside the burger wrapper box in "Pack.brres".
Interestingly, this model also has a "burnt" version, much like with the used upper burger bun.
Straw
Drink_D.brres in /PCopter/Model/System/BGShop (defined in "Drink_D.txt" under the same directory) contains an unused model for a plastic bottle straw, meant to be used in the Hamburger Shop. It is codenamed BG_Drink_D according to /PCopter/ResList.txt.
Grey Bear
An unused toy bear model is found in BearB.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Kid directory. When comparing it to the final version (used in the Kids Room's fourth mission), it is grey instead of brown, and it also has a few less polygons.
Unused Dog Plush
An unused pink dog plush model is found in InuC.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Kid directory. It is defined in the Param_D.txt file under the same directory, and codenamed as Toy_C according to /PCopter/ResList.txt.
It is identical to the final model (used in the Kids Room's fourth and treasure missions), with the only difference being that it is rotated a bit differently.
Unused Armor Set
An unused armor set model is found in Armor_base_plus.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Japan directory. It's codenamed as JP_Armor_base_plus according to /PCopter/ResList.txt.
While the individual models for the arms, legs and wooden stand are used, they're never seen together as a single model.
Sweets
Unused | Used |
---|---|
An unused variant of the sweets found in the Japanese House's second mission. It's found in sweet_02.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Japan directory, and it's codenamed JP_Sweet_02 according to /PCopter/ResList.txt.
In the unused variant, the red and pink sweets were positioned differently, and the purple sweet was originally yellow and star shaped.
Early | Final |
---|---|
Early versions of both the used and unused models can also be found in the same directory, named _sweet_01.brres and _sweet_02.brres. The only difference present is that two of their textures were originally darker.
Tea Cup
Early | Final |
---|---|
An early version of the tea cup found in the Japanese House's second mission. It's found in _TeaCup.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Japan directory.
The only difference is in the tea texture, which has a different design. In addition, the final version has a SCN0 file (named DefaultScene.scn0).
Unused Flint
An unused version of the flint model from the Japanese House's fifth and treasure missions. It's found in Flint2.brres, in the /PCopter/Model/System/Japan directory, and its model name is flint_02.mdl0. It has a parameters file, named Flint2.txt, under that same directory, but it's not referenced in /PCopter/ResList.txt, so it cannot be placed as a unique object, instead needing to replace an existing object to be able to load it in-game.
It looks the same as the final version, albeit without the stone model, and it also does not have an animation either. In the international versions, the model and textures were left unconverted from the original formats that only the Japanese version supports.
