Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero is the last original game to use digitized sprites. Surprisingly, it is not the last Mortal Kombat platformer.

Miscellaneous tidbits that are interesting enough to point out here.
Notes

Unused Sprites

Hmmm...
To do:
Cut out all the white/black space around the sprites.

MKM UnusedFlyingMonk.png

This sprite indicates there was a hang gliding monk enemy. A promotional video shows three of these enemies flying in the Wind level near the spinning devices with platforms on each side. They attempt to drop a bomb on the player.

MKM Headless BodyStand.gif

An unused Headless enemy. This is his standing animation...

MKM Headless BodyWalk.gif

His walking animation...

MKM Headless BodyGrab.gif

A grabbing animation...

MKM Headless BodyFall.gif

And what is probably a death or standing-up animation.

MKM Headless Head1Fly.gif

One of the floating heads that belong to the headless body enemy. Probably shot projectiles out of its mouth.

MKM Headless Head2Fly.gif

Another floating head from the same enemy.

MKM Headless Head3Fly.gif

Another floating head from the same enemy.

MKM Headless Head4Fly.gif

Another floating head from the same enemy.

MKM NetherrealmHoundWalk.gif

Unused Neatherrealm Hound enemy. Concept art for it can be found online. This is a walking animation...

MKM NetherrealmHoundLeap.gif

A leaping animation...

MKM NetherrealmHoundUrinate.gif

An animation of the enemy urinating...

MKM NetherrealmHoundDeath.gif

And its death animation.

MKM PrisonWarden.png

An unused prison warden enemy. There are similar enemies in the Neatherrealm level, but this one has a different weapon.

Unused Music

The game contains one sequence track scrapped from the final release, which is found within the Wind stage.

800E2BF4 280C

The GameShark code above can only be used in the Wind stage. After the game completely loads to the spawn point, enable the code by pressing the L2 + buttons together, and advance forward until the point where the music would naturally play. The original track will be replaced with the unused track.

Unused Level

Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

One of the levels in the LEVELS folder, labeled ROCKY, contains data for an unused level. The last modified date for the ROCKY.LVL file is April 30, 1997. The other, used levels were last modified in either July or August. Unfortunately, the TSQ and TXD files required to make this level work are no longer present on the disc.

Given the name and the title of the BIN file within (ROCKMAN.bin), it's possible that this would be a separate arena for the Earth boss. In the final game, only the Fire God gets a separate level.

This video shows an unused level at 0:32 which may have been the actual Rocky level (you can also see a screenshot here). It appears to be a level with a simple rocky background with a spiral pathway to move up. Obviously early in development.
