enable a debug menu which can be accessed at any time by pressing Select + Up. The functions are as follows:

  • DISP MENU - view any screen in the game.
  • STAGE 1-STAGE 7 - Level Select.
  • STAGE 10 (LOCAL TEST) - Test Maps.
  • FIGHT - presumably a battle test, but it doesn't seem to work.
  • SOUND - Sound Test.
  • LOCALIZE VER - Save Game editor?

A build date/time is also displayed at the bottom. The "LOCALIZE VER" option doesn't appear in the Japanese version.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document the test maps.
  • Figure out what LOCALIZE VER actually does. Are its functions located elsewhere in the Japanese version?
