To do:
  • Unused engine audio.
  • Other miscellaneous unused audio in fx_misc_mb.abk, fx_helicopter_mb.abk, siren_mb.abk, and fe_common_drift_mb.abk.

Just like the unused text, there's an absurd amount of unused audio in this game, too! Leftovers, scrapped dialogue, and only the most pleasing of engine sounds, what more could you want?

Announcer Speech

There are a total of 6,065 announcer lines in this game; of those, 1,335 of them go unused and many of them reflect ideas that never made it to the final game. All of these can be found by extracting paspeech_en.big and extracting any one of the speech bank DAT files. All of the voice lines have been grouped by announcer.

The unused speech banks contain audio related to certain in-game events:

  • Hub_CrrProg: Would've played in a race day hub after defeating a king.
  • In_CrR: Voice lines calling out people rolling their cars over in a race.
  • In_Spin: Voice lines calling out racers spinning out in drift races.
  • Pst_DisqA: Witty announcer comments for if the player (and only the player, not any of the AI) got disqualified during a drag race.
  • Pst_DisqB: Announcer comments telling the disqualified racer that they have another chance to redeem themselves.
  • Pst_DisqC: Announcers in awe after the disqualified racer wins the race.
  • Pst_DragTrnyA: Post-race announcer comments congratulating the racers on their performance.
  • Pst_DragTrnyB: Filler audio that tells the "audience" that the next tournament round starts soon.
  • Pst_DriftTrnyA: Post-race announcer comments congratulating the racers on their performance.
  • Pst_DriftTrnyB: Filler audio that tells the "audience" that the next tournament round starts soon.
  • Pst_Rec: Post-race voice lines that congratulate the player on setting a new record on a certain track.
  • Pst_WD: Announcer comments focused on the winner of a solo or tandem drift race.
  • Pst_WDg: Announcer comments focused on the winner of a drag race.
  • Pst_WG: Announcer comments focused on the winner of a grip race.
  • Pst_Wheelie: Announcer comments focused on the winner of a wheelie competition.
  • Pst_Winner: Lots of post-race voice lines that congratulate a race winner.
  • Pst_Woohoo: Celebratory screaming which likely would've played before a piece of win dialogue.
